Presentation: Destination Home with Ray Bramson: An organization since 2015 helping with finding housing for families in need and keeping families in homes, and creating low income homes for those who need, as well. They act as a convener, funder, and a leader in the fight against those without a home. They are aware and working with those in encampments. The building/acquiring of housing takes quite a bit of time and the need is growing. The county has added 1,000 new shelter beds, including Motel 6s and County Fairgrounds. What is holding back those who are homeless from getting into a safe space? Right now they are leaving some units open to those that are considered “vulnerable” to the virus. What kind of donations, if any, are they looking for? Monetary donations are always great, but voicing the need for housing, especially by local clubs like Lions, has power especially when support is needed for low income housing. This group’s focus is in Santa Clara County. With largely corporate and non-profit support, Destination Home is helping serve 12-13,00 households of 65,000 that are currently in need.
Final Comments and Updating Club By-Laws. Thank you to Claire and Al who have worked tirelessly to revise these bylaws. The notice of voting was distributed by email and by regular mail. Vote called for adopting the new bylaws. We have a quorum of 25 of 45 members, and need a majority to adopt:
VOTE: 24 aye, 0 nay, 1 abstention.
Bylaws Accepted

Guidelines for By-laws Vote
1. Is a quorum of 45 people, 22 or 23 people? (half is 22.5) 23
2. Do the bylaws pass with a majority or a 2/3 of the quorum? The current bylaws don’t include a specific provision regarding amendment of the bylaws. In the new bylaws, a 2/3 vote is required for amendment, but those bylaws have not yet been adopted so don’t apply in this process. Since the default voting threshold is majority, that is the process we are using for this vote: a majority of votes in a meeting where a quorum is present. Therefore, we need 23 people present, and 12 of those need to vote yes, in order for the vote to pass.

3. If it is majority, then we would need 16.5 vote for majority of 23 (so really 17). See 2. above.
4. If it is a 2/3 needing to pass then it’s 15.3 (so is that 15 or 16) votes for 2/3 of 23? See 2. above.

Why we do it? WE SERVE: AJ Robinson Mobile Health Screening Services, Flag Days, Via West Camp (Costanoan), Project Linus, eye exams & glasses, THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE, Eye glasses recycling and other charitable causes in our community and around the world. Bravo, Lions of De Anza, BRAVO!
