Golf Tournament

There will be a meeting of the Golf committee tomorrow, Friday, 3:30 pm at Moffett Field. Lion Steve reported they now have 227 donations. Kudos to Lion Claire for agreeing to help out with donations.

Crab Feed

Our club is considering changing the venue to the Elks Lodge in San Jose. The basic cost would be $2800 but with miscellaneous expenses the total would be closer to $6000. Lion Ray seemed to think we might be able to negotiate a lower cost.

We are also considering whether to partner with someone other than the Sunnyvale Sunrise Rotary club. Some possibilities discussed were the Elks and the Almaden Super Lions Club.

These issues will be discussed at the next Board Meeting on March 15th.

Good of the Order

Zone Student Speaker Contest: Lion Dagi reported the Zone level Student Speaker Contest will be next Monday, March 14th, 6:30 pm at the Count of Santa Clara Registrar of Voters, Berger Auditorium, 1555 Berger Drive, San Jose. She has notified our club winner, Shankara Srikantan but he has not yet responded.

Pancake Breakfast: The Cupertino Odd Fellows are hosting their Memorial Pancake Breakfast this Saturday, March 12th at the Odd Fellows Hall from 8 am to 11 am. Cost is $6.00 and all money will go for a cancer charity. Please try and support them as they have provided the venue for a number of our community projects.

St. Paddy Dinner: The Sunnyvale Host St. Paddy Dinner will be this Sunday, March 13th from 4 till 6:30 pm at the Sunnyvale Elks Lodge, 375 N. Pastoria Ave, Sunnyvale. Cost is $20 adults, $10 children. For tickets and information contact Bob DeUnger at 650-996-4127.

Eye Glass Recycling: The Vallejo eyeglass recycling center now takes broken glasses. They give them to the VA Hospital who can reuse the frame or recycle the metal. They also recycle DVD’s, CD’s, laser discs and hearing aids.

Club Assessment: District 4C6 has been forced to pay an IRS penalty because of ongoing errors filling out IRS form 990. To pay the penalty 4C6 is assessing each club $20.

Thrivent Financial: Our club has received a check for $437 from Thrivent, a not for profit financial company. They distribute their excess funds to needy groups at the request of their members.

Save Mart: Lion Steve reported that the Save Mart share card is being replaced by e-script effective April 1st.

Club Officers: The slate of officers for 2016-2017 are being prepared. Lions Mike R and Vijay will be taking over as treasure. The secretary position is still open.

Credit Card: Lion Ray reported that Lanny Roos a fellow member of the A.J. Robinson Board told him that 1st Data could get us one of their credit card machine for free if the person applying is a military veteran. There would just be a monthly fee for those months that we use it.

Mail Box: 1) The club received a thank you note from 1st VDG Barbara Chamberlain for our hospitality last week when she visited both our AM and PM meetings. 2) We have received a registration packet for the 2016 4C6 Convention May 11-14 at the Red Lion Woodlake Convention Center, 5000 Leisure Lane, Sacramento.
