A.M. meeting minutes for 9/9/2021

Lions Present at Zoom Video Conference and in person: Lion’s Ray, Ron, Herb, Al (Z), Steve, Leslye, Eli, Bill, Don, Dagi (Z), and Kent.

Dates to Remember –

– ROV Volunteer’s Special Election Sept. 4-14, 2021
– Food Drive Nov. 20th -22nd, 2021
– Annual Crab Feed February 5, 2022

Tail Twister – Tail Twister Lion Herb collected bucks from all members.

ROV – Lion Al said we still need a crew at the ROV supple truck on November 11th. Lion Al said that the ROV truck got tagged last knight and he reported it to the Registrar of Voters.

Blind Center – Lion Ray said there is another Lions Club Eyeglass Recycling event on September 25th at the Blind Center on Bascom Ave.

Camp Via West – Lion Ray said he and Lion Herb went to the garden on Tuesday to water and harvest the vegetables. Lion Ray said he would go up and check on the garden today after the meeting. Lion Steve said he fixed the sagging shade and is looking at what we can do to stabilize the garden pen.
Food Drive – Lion Steve said that they checked with the Lucky’s store in Santa Clara and the manager said as long as both doors were open we could have our food drive there.

Good of the Order –

Lion Eli talked about looking at re-evaluating our fund raising processes. Lion Eli said we might want to check with the city of Cupertino and possibly get grant money for future events like the BBQ and the Bike Ride. He mentioned that we could also check with other large corporations like Apple and Sobrato who donates to local charities. Lion Eli said we could possibly send a letter out to Cupertino Family residents mentioning our organization and local charities we support. Lion Eli said the Lions club of Saratoga did that and he thinks they brought in about twenty thousand dollars.
Lion Kent said he talked with members of the Cupertino City council about our BBQ event and the issues that we were written up for by the Santa Clara County food inspector. The council members said they would like to work with the county on correcting the issues. Lion Kent said he would check back with the city in the future to see what has transpired.
