A.M. meeting minutes for 8/19/2021

Tail Twister – Tail Twister Lion Herb collected big bucks from Lion Eli since this is the first meeting he has attended in person this year. Thank you Lion Eli.
Board Meeting Review –
ROV – Lion Al and Lion Barbara will cover the coordinators position at Los Gatos Creek Park for the entire ten days. Lion Al said that we could still use more club volunteers to help out with the recall.
BBQ – Lion Al said the issue of Covid came up and was discussed. The club has asked for an all hands zoom meeting on Friday August 20th at 8 PM to discuss the BBQ and vote on wether we should continue. Another BBQ zoom meeting will be held on Wednesday August 25 to see where we stand. The food committee is ready to go.
Blind Center – Lion Al said the club donated $250 to Vista (Lions In Sight). Lion Ray said there were volunteers at the Blind Center from a San Jose State Sorority and they talked about setting up a Lion’s club at SJS. To date there have been 95 thousand pairs of glasses processed so far. Our club will also donate $250 to the Rise to Hunger campaign in October.
Camp Via West – Lion Joan said harvesting is continuing with tomatoes and squash mainly being picked. Lion Joan said that children from a school (K-8th) will be staying at the Camp and
they would like for them to help out in the garden. There will be between 8-10 kids each day from Monday thru Thursday to help in the garden. Lion Joan is looking at setting up a curriculum for them for what they can do in the garden. The kids are supposed to have an instructor with them.
Good of the Order –
Lion Steve said he will be taking Maria to her eye appointment in San Francisco on August 24th.
Lion John talked about the article in the Lions magazine about the new Lions International President and how he was a working class person who started at the bottom and worked his way up the ranks. He said it was a good article to read.
