Camp Via West – Lion Joan said that the watering system is working well. Lion Joan said she and Dagi put up netting over the vegetables on one of the outdoor gardens to keep the pests away. Lion Joan said when she talked to the representative while donating some of our vegetables that she found out that Apple also donates extra fruit and vegetables they grow at their campus to West Valley Community Services. Discussions were held about building bird netting cages for some of the vegetable gardens that we can remove easily to harvest the crops. Lion Joan said she would send out an email about going up to the camp on Tuesday Sept.1st and Wednesday Sept. 2nd. Lion Steve said he will be able to go up to the camp after September 5th to talk with Rick about setting up a train set. Lion Steve will talk with Lion Bill to see when he is available to go up.

Golf Tournament – Lion Al said at this time we have received $6,043 dollars in golf donations. There were $2,200 donated by non-lions. Lion Ray says he has tried to contact the golf tournament director at Moffett Field with little success. If he is not able to contact him Lion Ray will contact the General manager to discuss certain items in the contract for next years tournament.

Registrar of Voters – Lion Ray sent out the sign up sheet for different volunteer opportunities. Please take a look to see if you might be able to sign up for one of the vacant spots. Help make some money for the club.

Project Linus – Lion Leslye will go shopping to get the material and other items for the Project Linus Zoom blanketeering kits. She will then put packets together for individuals to pick up at her home for the event. Please participate as it is a lot of fun and helps a good cause.

Food Drive – Discussions were held about what we could depending the Covid19 restrictions. There were discussions about the Lions exposure to all of the individuals coming and going to the store. It was brought up if we wanted to look at adding another store like Whole Foods in Cupertino or Zanatto’s in Sunnyvale. Lion Steve and Lion Ron will check with our current Lucky’s stores to see if they are even open to the idea of having a food drive due to Covid19.

Good of the Order – Lion Linda talked about a request for a donation to “An Inner Wheel” Proposal. This proposal is to help raise funds for the expansion of West Valley Community Services (WVCS). The campaign is to upgrade their facility in Cupertino and purchase a customized mobile food pantry. The proposed remodel will double the size of their food pantry and increase space for case management and other safety net programs. Lion Ray will send out a full copy of Lion Linda’s request to the entire club along with information detail about the proposal. This will be brought up to the Board of Directors for the donation.

Opportunity Drawing – None
