PM Meeting Review –

Update from DG Rick Silviera and Linda Pugliese: visits and describes the voting for our district in the convention. There is a plan for a gathering discussing important topics and Awards Ceremony, June 20th-tentative date at Hayes Mansion @ 11:00 AM. Linda is working on the district installation of officers on July 18th in the evening in San Jose. Look for info on the North American Membership Initiative as a plan for district growth for the next three years.
Board Highlights: letter of support for Sunnyvale Community Center, West Valley Community Services, and Community Seva donation during COVID-19, we are successful, but also need to be somewhat prudent with our fundraisers possibly being postponed or cancelled.
Discussion on Homeless Donation: in comment to Board highlights, some want to help homeless get off the street and into housing, rather than enabling homeless to stay on the street. The question is where do we as a club want to put our money when we are helping the homeless, maybe families and students should be our focus. Board should have a conversation about the stance. Destination Homes is one organization that might be interesting to hear from. Maybe we look at who we already serve and what they need and then we see how we can continually or further help those people we have already confirmed are in need.
Pandemic Responses: (see Board highlights) we have responded with donations as stated above in Board Highlights and should react quickly to the immediate need (hourly workers and homeless).
Guest Speaker Ideas: diversify who we have come and share to the club, for example Via West Rep or someone who can come and help us understand current affairs, like the homeless situation.
Busy Calendar Suspended: rescheduled date to August 29th for Golf Tourney. Suggestion to send a letter to our usual attendees that they may still donate if they choose, but don’t put it on the flyer yet. When we are allowed to get together, we will talk about the Tailtwister Party. Camp Via West email said that work can be done outside up at the camp. Rick Wagoner is the contact and Jeff, with Bill’s help, will further the communication with Via. Watch for possible work party.
Golf Tournament – Lion Ray said the Golf Tournament in June is canceled. Lion Ray said he has reserved August 29, 2020 for the tournament pending Coronavirus guidelines.

Good of the Order – Lion Bill said that Camp Via West needs the weeds chopped down around the camp for fire safety. The date set for Camp Via West work party is Friday May 15th and May 16th starting at 9:00 AM.

Lion Ray and Lion Al talked about a combined meeting with the AM/PM members to hand out awards to deserving club members and checking that everyone is healthy. Lion Ray said he would talk with Lion Al and Lion Prez Jeff to see if they could set it up for this coming Thursday May 14th at 6:30 PM. Look for a notification!!!

Lion Al said we loaned the Monta Vista Leo’s club $300 to make 3-D face shields for first responders.

Opportunity Drawing – None
