WomenSV (Women of Silicon Valley) Mission Statement: WomenSV (Women of Silicon Valley) Mission Statement: We educate the community, train providers and empower survivors to break the cycle of abuse in middle-to-upper income areas so that every woman and child can exercise their fundamental human right to be free and safe in their own home. Lion Leslye gave a Happy dollar for signing up for medicare, welcome aboard. Lion Eli gave a happy dollar for Lion Steve and all the help he has been providing in keeping Lion Eli’s house boat afloat and running.
PM Meeting Review – Ride4Diabetes 2019, Final Update Pending: Leslye will be a liaison, net figure of 17,000, which makes it a viable event. That amount includes the grant, which we don’t expect to get next year. The leads in the event (Sudha and Simran) rose to a high level and took it over to make it successful. There are improvements to be made, but a positive event.
Project Linus, Hands On Fun, We Serve – Join Us! 17th of October at Oddfellows at 6:30. Leslye, Carl, and Joan will be getting the fabric tomorrow. 7.95 million blankets have been given by the organization.
Food Drive 2019 – Sign Ups Coming, Leadership Needed: Jen is the warehouse leader this year again, is it a good idea to have a “captain” at each location? Charlie and Herb are in for vehicles. Ellen will give the manager contact at Lucky’s on San Tomas and Pruneridge for the refrigerator truck accommodations. Recipient group communication will come from Jen, since she is managing the warehouse. Al can contact Rosemary School.Jeff has Mr. Gonzalez at Trace.
Project Linus – Lion Leslye said Lion Joan and Lion Carl were going shopping for the material for the blankets today. Lion Carl will provide his assistance with his teachers credential to get a discount saving us money. Lion Al said the insurance has been taken care of for the event. Lion Leslye talked about where she volunteers and how the blankets are appreciated.
R4D – Lion Al said that we netted over $17,000 for the ride. Dispersion of the R4D funds will be decided at the next Board meeting.
Good of the Order –
Lion Eli talked about The Parade of Champions put on by the City of Santa Clara and the possibility of us participating next year. Need to check with the Santa Clara Lions club to make sure we do not step on anyones territory without their okay.
Opportunity Drawing – Congratulations to Lion Eli.
