Tail Twister – Tail Twister Herb collected Happy Dollars or fractions thereof, but definitely multiple happy dollars for Lions Carl and Jenny Erickson, as each of them got a prestigious award during the Pac 12 Championship. Lion Don commented that the 49ers are back, and Lion Phil was happy that his car has 283,000 miles.
New Members – Lion Ray read out a letter from IPP Bob Curlew (LCI) who complimented our club for reaching the membership goal of 2016-2017. The letter was accompanied by a patch for which Lion Herb will find a suitable place on one of our banners.
Special day today – Lion Ray reminded the fellow lions of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day today
Lions Holiday Party and Installation – Lion Prez Jeff has sent out another reminder with details of this Saturday’s event. The party starts at 5:30pm, with the induction of new members scheduled for 6:30pm, performed by our district Governor Bob Stewart. Food will be catered and delivered by Maggiano’s, but BYOB. There will be 55 adults and about 12 kids. Lion Kent might have to do a solo on the Piano, as the Blue Bells are not available. Be prepared to share in the singing! Lion Steve or Lion Al will bring name tags for the new club members – all Lions should wear their name tags to make it easier for the new members to put names to our faces, too.
Crab Feed – Lion Al reported that 72 tickets for the first seating have been sold, with 50 – 70 additional ones more or less committed. He is not worried about the first seating. No tickets have been sold yet for the second seating, so we have to push that seating with ads on NextDoor and a flier on the district website. Reserved tickets will be ‘reserved’ until the first of the year, when they will be sold to whoever gives cash to Lion Al. Both Lion Al and Steve mentioned that the facility is really great, even bigger than the one we used in the past years; parking will be no problem; the church will handle the parking for the 5pm mass. Lion Steve has received donations worth $ 3,684, with the biggest item being 2 tickets (@ $ 155/ea) to a Warrior Game in March, and a case of very good wine donated by Paul & Eddy’s.
Volunteer Hours – Lion Ray committed to verify with the district how volunteer hours should be reported. Lion John will investigate if there is a place in the (private) club files on our web site where each lion could report his/her hours any time.
More updates from the PM meeting – Two of our new club members, Andrea and Muni attended. Lion Prez Jeff reported from the latest India Eye Camp. See also our website (http://deanzalions.net/latestnews/ ).
Update – Lion Eli is doing ‘pretty good’, and will be trying to get to the Xmas party for a little while. Ex-Lion Walt who had planned to attend will not be able to make it as he broke his shoulder. Best wishes go to these lions for speedy recovery.
Change of ListServ – Lions Sundar and John are in the process of changing the group email address and all included fellow lions’ email addresses, from Yahoo to Google groups. Most lions are already receiving the group emails with the googlegroup email; Lion John will make sure that all old and new members are included and that the directory on our website is in synch.
Good of the Order –
Lion John Noone will add an organization chart to the Bike Ride proposal that he already submitted at the last Board meeting
Lion Mike Martin’s truck was damaged during the food drive; the repairs will amount to approx. $ 600.00; to be paid out of the Admin account
Lion Don would like Lion Treasurer Vijay to cut a check in the budgeted amount ($ 500.00) for EDGE, one of the charities we support again in this Lion year. More on EDGE here http://www.edgeyl.org/
Lion Al reminded the AMers to donate to the Christmas fund for our servers at Holder’s Country Inn during our morning meetings. He was subsequently pleasantly surprised by, and grateful for an influx of generous contributions.
Opportunity Drawing – Congratulations: Lion Ray won
Respectfully submitted by:
Lion Dagi (pro-tem for Lion Ron)
