Tail Twister The Club was in a good mood as Lion Herb went around the room collecting “Happy Dollars”. Most notable was Lion Ron who gave in honor of his son who is up for an award at the “Emmys” this Sunday. We wish him well. Lion Eli gave 50 cents each in appreciation for the slave labor he extracted from Lions Steve, and Herb for their assistance in repairing his houseboat. Several Happy Dollars were given in thanks for the success of the Golden State Warriors. Go Warriors!

Golf Tournament – MORE GOLFERS NEEDED. We currently have 35 paid and 15 pledged. It takes around 80 paid players to break even. Lion Steve will be sending out fliers within the next day or so. Lion Steve says we have $10,000 in donations. The work party will be held on June 16th at the Ratner home. Good news, they will again be serving ribs.

Camp Via West – The annual power washing and painting has been scheduled for May 27th and 28th at Camp Via. Work begins at 1 pm on Friday. Let Lion Bill or Lion Ray know if you are willing to help.

June Election Volunteers – Volunteers are still needed as mid-day and evening couriers. Email Monique Herrera at the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters Monique.herrera@rov.sccgov.org if you are interested. For questions you can call her at 408-282-3284 or call Lion John Noone.

Each courier shift earns $65 for driver and $65 for partner. Only the driver is required to train, but each trainee receives $10. Indicate that you are part of the De Anza Lions group so your pay can be put in a single check and go to our treasurer.

Fish A Thon – Help is needed with setup on Friday, April 29th at 2:30 pm for an hour or two. Volunteers are also needed helping the kids fish on Saturday. The event begins at 8 am. Breakfast starts at 7 am. For more information contact Jim Isaacson at 408-278-7077 or email jim-val@pacbell.net.

Silicon Valley Fall Festival/AJR – Kudos to Lions Dan and Yvonne for offering to replace the linoleum and carpeting in the AJR at no cost.

Lion Ray has reserved the van for use at the Silicon Valley Fall Festival. It will be held 10 am – 5 pm on September 10th at Memorial Park in Cupertino. Volunteers will be needed to staff it. Please contact Lion Ray if you are willing to help.

Good of the Order –

Hughes Elementary School Picnic: Please note the date for the annual hotdog and lemonade picnic we sponsor at Fairway Park has been changed. It will be on Thursday, June 2nd.

Crab Feed Update: Lions Steve, Carl, and Eli will checkout the Portuguese Hall in Santa Clara on Friday afternoon to see if it would make a suitable replacement for future crab feeds. As yet no word has been received from the Sunnyvale Sunrise Rotary Club as to our proposed 70/30 split of revenue.

Opportunity Drawing – Congratulations to our winner, Lion Ron. Thanks Lion Ron for donating your share of the winnings to our club treasury.
