Silicon Valley Fall Festival/AJ Robinson MSU
The Fall Festival is this Saturday at Memorial Park in Cupertino. We will be staffing the AJ Robinson MSU from 9 am until 6 pm. Some volunteers are still needed especially for the 3 – 6 pm shift. Make sure to wear your yellow shirts, and caps. Lion Charlie says there is parking available in the De Anza College Student Parking lot. There may be a cost involved.
The AJ Robinson MSU will be parked near the Cupertino Senior Center, which is off Mary Avenue near Stevens Creek. The air conditioning in the MSU may not be working so Lion Steve has agreed to bring a small fan. Lion Jeff will bring bottles of water. The president of AJ Robinson will be there at 9 am to help train the first shift. Lion Ron has agreed to bring some a frame signs from storage to direct people to the unit.
Good of the Order
Food Drive: Kudos to Lions Dan and Yvonne for sending out a flier for the November Food Drive. We received a nice cash donation from Cindy and Allen Braun. Fellow Lions, where is your donation?
Crab Feed: Lion Ray explained he has a meeting with St Williams Church on Monday to get the contract so we can use the Church again in January for the Crab Feed. He has also agreed to check into getting 325 boxes for the food drive.
Edge Youth Leadership Program: We received a thank you letter from Edge Youth Leadership in appreciation for our $400 contribution. The money was used to help send 150 youth leaders to UC Berkeley for a 2-day leadership program. Attached are letters from a couple of youth that participated.
Omar’s Dream Run: The event is scheduled for Sunday, October 11th at Hellyer Park in San Jose. Parking at the park is $6. To volunteer, participate or make a donation you will need to go online and register at omarsdream.org.
There is a concern that although we are only volunteers this year, we may end up providing the insurance.
Lion Eli will need a crew on Oct 10th to haul tables and chairs to San Jose. The crew will be needed again on Oct 11th to set up everything then take everything down at the end of the day.
Lion Ron said he saw an email listing five charities where 100% of the donation goes to charity. Lions International was one of those five charities.
Opportunity Drawing – Congratulations to our winner, AGAIN, Lion Phil. Thank You Lion Phil for your donation to our club.
