Tail Twister – Acting Lion Tail Twister Eli went around the room extracting “Happy Dollars”. Lion Ron gave for the SF Giants and Oakland Raiders. Lion Mort was happy because Jack Epperson will be attending our September 2nd PM meeting.
District 4-C6 Cabinet Meeting – Lion Ray reported that our district now has colorful posters that we can pass out to businesses willing to display them. They will make it easier for people interested in joining Lions to contact someone.
New technology is available to make our job easier
100 Hours Program is a new website listing of opportunities for anyone interested in doing volunteer work.
Lions President’s Group is another site dedicated just for Lion presidents.
GCF on Facebook is a tutorial for using Facebook.
Square Chart is a 2.7% sales program similar to Pay Pal. It may be a help for our Golf Tournament and Crab Feed for transactions.
Stop Hunger Now – Sunnyvale Host Lion Suzie DeUnger reported that the next District Stop Hunger Now event would be on November 14th, 10 am – 1 pm at St Francis Episcopal Church, 1205 Pine Ave, San Jose. Volunteers are needed to package food. This is a fun and worthwhile event.
AJ Robinson/Silicon Valley Fall Festival – The Fall Festival is on September 12th at Memorial Park in Cupertino. Our club has volunteered to run the AJ Robinson Diabetes Screening Van. Hours are from 9 am till 6 pm. Volunteers are still needed, ESPECIALLY for the third shift, 3 pm to 6 pm. Lion Jim Isaacson has agreed to help with the setup. We are trying to get 2 nurses per shift. Thanks to Lion Steve who has volunteered to get the tables, chairs, and tent out of storage. If you have a camera, please bring it. We need some pictures for our website.
Good of the Order
Correspondence – Stanford’s Automated Driving Research: The Center for Design Research is recruiting participants for automated driving research. The studies are conducted using a driving simulator on Stanford’s campus. Participants must have a valid driver’s license. Lion Dagi reported she has made some updates to our website, especially the home page. Once Lion President Jeff has approved them, she will have Lion John install. Thanks Lion Dagi for your good work!
Lion Steve says his neighbor needs a sitter for their dogs. Neighbor is going to Maui 11 – 19 September and will pay $35/day. See Lion Steve for more information.
Lion Ron reported his neighbor is getting rid of a 3-burner stove and wants to know if we would like it. If his kids do not want it, we can have it.
Lion Mort wished to thank Lion Ray for all he has/and is doing for our club. We agree. Thanks, Lion Ray! She also noted the Alburn Host Lions are having their golf tournament at Turkey Creek Golf Course.
Lion Phil thanked Lion Eli for picking up the eyeglasses from him and Lion Ray for picking up the pull-tabs. Great job, fellows!!
