GOLF TOURNAMENT – We need more golfers! Currently only 22 golfers are signed up. The good news is that we now have 2 Silver sponsors and 1 Bronze sponsor. Lion Claire is bringing in a new Tee sponsor. Lion Steve is making arrangements for a LARGER TEE SIGN by making a larger donation. Donations – We now have $1950 in donated items plus some golf supplies. As yet we do not have a budget for the golf tournament because we moved the tournament from July (2015-2016 year) to June (2014-2015 year).
CRAB FEED – There is still a problem with charge back from Pay Pal. People who used Pay Pal did not recognize the cost as being from the Crab Feed and then refused to pay. A lot more work for Lion Al. It was recommended we do away with using Pay Pal at the Crab Feed next year. The question came up as to why we do not buy a lower quality of crab at a lower price. Lion Jim says the Fish Market only buys top quality.
PU101 CLUB LEADERSHIP – The club voted on the slate of officers for next year. All have been confirmed except for 1st Vice President.
DISTRICT STUDENT SPEAKER CONTEST – Contest will be held on Friday, April 24th, 7pm at the Sunnyvale School Administrative Office, 825 W Iowa Ave, Sunnyvale. The contest is in need of judges. I have asked our club judges from this year but as yet no one has accepted. If you know of anyone interested, please let me know.
VILLAGE HARVEST – Lion Bernie is organizing a group of volunteers to pick fruit for 2nd Harvest. Date is this Saturday, April 11th. For more information contact Lion Bernie or see: www.villageharvest.org.
FISH-A-THON – The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd at the Stevens Creek Quarry. Volunteers are needed for setup on Friday, May 1, 1 – 5 pm and also during the Fish A Thon, Saturday from 8 am till 2:30 pm. For more information contact Jim Isaacson at 408-278-7077 or email jim-val@pacbell.net
4C6 CONVENTION – Delegates are needed to vote at the convention. The Convention runs from May 6th through the 10th at the Red Lion Woodlake Hotel and Conference Center in Sacramento. Voting will take place on Saturday morning, May 9th. If you would like to carpool to Sacramento for the voting on May 9th, our club will pay for the registration cost. Contact Lion Al if you are interested.
BINGO – With Lion John S leaving, we are in need of someone to take over the preparation of the Bingo schedule. If you would like to help out, please contact Lion Pres Jeff or Lion Ray.
DEPARTING GIFT – It is customary to give a gift to the outgoing District Governor. Lion Al made a motion, which was passed, to contribute $250 to Lions Project Canine Companions for Independence on her behalf. This is a charity that has been near and dear to DG Karen Fillmore for a number of years.
GOOD OF THE ORDER
1) Kudos to Lion Al for filling in as acting AM Coordinator in Lion Ray’s absence.
2) Our club received a Thank You letter from Wounded Warrior Project for our generous gift of $500. Their work begins at the bedsides of injured warriors as they undergo rehabilitation by helping them to return to civilian life. They also help in finding jobs and with the battle against the long-term effects of combat.
