A.J. Robinson – Lion Al said that we paid for the van for two days and that it is now in the hands of the Cupertino Lions Host club. We have not heard anything from Cupertino Lions Host President Wayne as of yet on how they were going to support it since it is the same day as our golf tournament.
Leo’s Update – Lion Kent mentioned that the Leo’s membership drive at Monta Vista was on September, 9th and we were able to get them the Lion’s banner for their recruiting booth. Lion Kent also provided them with flyers for the golf tournament to hopefully get more golfers.
One Sight – Lion Al discussed the possibility of a cornea implant operation for Maria and that she does qualify. She will get a final eye exam and provide the results to the Lions Eye Foundation for final approval of the surgery which would be the last step before the surgery. We had two more students from Campbell Middle school that received their eye exams and are getting glasses. This means that we have three out of five students completed from Campbell Middle school. There was a discussion about letters of appreciation from the students/ people that we help so that we can put them on our website for our sponsors to see. Lion Steve said that he would talk to Lion Kathy on Saturday about getting
thank you letters from the students. Lion Kent mentioned that we might want to send follow up letters to the counselors to help in getting thank you letters to show our major sponsors about our community involvement. Lion Kent said he would get the information required and talk with or provide Lion Kathy with that information. Lion Al said that we currently have ten eye exam vouchers left.
Golf Tournament – Lion Eli mentioned that we currently have approximately fifty golfers committed and are trying to get more. Lion Eli and Lion Prez Steve will get together and discuss the audio speaker placement for the tournament. Lion Jim Gould said he is working on getting more golfers and he also volunteered to work at the beer tent provided by the FireHouse Grill and Brewery. Lion Eli mentioned that we need preliminary numbers of golfers and volunteers so he can provide the restaurant with that information. Lion Eli and Lion Kent will contact the Silver Sponsors for names of golfers participating in the tournament. Lion Kent will also work with his committee to follow up on other potential major sponsors. Lion Prez Steve said that we currently have more that enough prizes for the raffle and auction. We also need volunteers to sell raffle tickets and it was brought that maybe the Leo’s could help us in this endeavor.
Good of the Order – Lion Eli also talked with the owners of the Pizza Party pizzeria and they said they would they would work with us in setting up the tables in any fashion we wanted for the P.M. meetings. Discussions will continue.
Opportunity Drawing – Congratulations, Lion Herb won. I think that there is a conspiracy going on between Lion Herb and Lion Eli since they seem to be winning all the opportunity drawings lately.
Respectfully submitted by: Lion Secretary Ron Ahearn
