Board Meeting Review – Lion Al said it was a great meeting. He stated the the club was financially solvent. There was a discussion about setting up a bank account for club members to pay club dues using PayPal. Lion Al said he looked into setting up this account but is is a little more difficult than was expected and did not know if it was worth the effort. There was a discussion concerning the P.M. meeting spot and it was decided that the P.M. meeting would be at the Pizza Party pizzeria again in October. There are issues about not being able to be heard because of the sound levels in the restaurant so we are still looking around for a better place. Lion Prez. Steve and Jeff to discuss another venue in Campbell.
Golf Update – Lion Eli said that we need to be aware of the meeting tonight (9/16/10) of the registration committee at Lion Leslye’s home. We currently have the Leo’s scheduled for several tasks. Lion Kent mentioned that we can use the Leo’s as much as we want be we don’t know exactly how many we will have until Monday Sept. 20th. The Leo’s are hoping to have approximately 52 members after the membership drive. Lion Eli stated that he believes the new banner will cost less than $100 and thanked Lion Kent for the way that he set the banner up last year because it is saving us money this year. Lion Eli also stated that he thought that we should add the Fish Market as a sponsor to our banner. There was no objection to that. Lion Kent said he thought that Kaiser might be a
$5,000 sponsor. The request went from the local group to corporate for final approval.
Lion Al stated that he needs the names of all the golfers, volunteers, and attendees so that he can get them on the Security Gate list. All he needs is there full name as it appears on their photo ID.
Lion Eli stated that a group of Lions will go to storage on Wednesday and get the tables, chairs, and other items necessary to take over to Lion John and Leslye’s home for the pre-tournament party on Thursday night. We need a count of attendees that are planning on going to the party so Lion Leslye can plan accordingly.
Lion Ray Lancon mentioned that we currently have 18 golfers (maybe 20) set up for the Friday pre-tournament at Summit Point. He needs money from those who have not paid yet as he has paid for everyone already.
Good of the Order – Lion John Smith stated that he would be out of town on business and would not be able to help out at the golf tournament. He did say that he would discuss taking on the Lion’s Speaker contest with his wife Carmel.
News update: I just received an email from Lion John Smith saying that he and
his wife Carmel would be happy to take on this project on for 2011. Thank you so much for taking on this task, it is greatly appreciated by the Cupertino DeAnza Lions Club.
Opportunity Drawing – Congratulations, Lion Mike Martin won, that will help him pay for his truck being repaired.
Respectfully submitted by: Lion Secretary Ron Ahearn
