dinner in Santa Cruz was great.  They all had a great time and discussions on
many topics were done.  There was a new District 4-C6 2010-20111 directory
passed out.  The new District Governor Ray Maglalang will be at our next
meeting on July 29, 2010.
District Cabinet Meeting – The Lions Eye Foundation gave a presentation
stating that they had received over 160 referrals this year and performed 60
surgeries.  September 11, 2010 will be their 50th Anniversary.  They had
mentioned their new website where clubs could see the new/revised rules for
club visitation.  The District 4-C6 golf tournament will be held on September 24th,
2010 in Monterey.   The cost is $49.  There was also a discussion on how to get
new members in the district clubs.
Community Outreach – Lion Herb stated that when anything happened he
would let us know.  Lion Ray said he had talked to the Lions Eye Foundation in
San Francisco and found out new information about eye surgery for the lady we
are trying to help.  It looks like she is eligible for it.  She also has a twelve year
old son that needs an eye exam and glasses.  As of yet we have not been able to
make contact with Margo from the Campbell Middle school about the five kids
that we want to help with eye exams and glasses.
Golf Tournament – Lion Eli stated that things were going well with the next
meeting scheduled for August 4, 2010 at 5:30 P.M. prior to the P.M. meeting at
the Round Table pizza on Stevens Creek in Santa Clara.  Lion Eli stated that he
had talked with the proprietor of Paul and Eddie’s Bar and Grill and they were
going to be at least a bronze sponsor and possibly have a couple of foursomes in
the golf tournament.  Lion Prez Steve will get with Lion John N. about how we
can get a graphic or pdf file of our golf tournament to be put on the District
website.  Lion Ray has between 16-24 spots available for the pre tournament golf
outing ($49) at Summit Point at 10:30 A.M on September 24th.  There will be the
pre-golf tournament golf party at Lion John and Leslye Noones house starting at
5:30 P. M. on September 24th.  Lion Ray will try and talk to the Cupertino Courier
about putting in a spot about our tournament.
Lion Eli talked about the Dayton Valley Lions golf tournament in Carson City,
Nevada.  It was well represented by the DeAnza Lions group and friends.  Thank
you all.  Oh and by the way the Pub Crawl was great.
Good of the Order – Lion Prez Steve and his wife Ellen along with Lions Eli and
Mort went and had lunch at Ruffled Feathers in downtown San Jose.  This is the
new restaurant opened by past DeAnza Lions Secretary Kerry Edmonds.  They
said the food was great and reasonable and she will also give a 10% discount to
Lions club members.  She is also donating some food for the golf tournament
and a discount coupon for her restaurant for the goody bag.  Thank you Kerry.
Lion Kent has been instrumental in getting Apple Corp. to agree to being a Silver
Sponsor of the DeAnza Lions Club.  Thanks for all the hard work and
perseverance Kent. Lion Ray G. talked about the great work the USO is doing
and their new facility at the new terminal at Mineta San Jose airport.  He also
talked about the veterans Alzheimer’s group out at the veterans facility at Great
Oaks in South San Jose.

He might need some help if any Lions are available just let him know.

I was just talking with my coworker about this last week over lunch . Don’t know how we got on the subject actually , they brought it up. I do remember eating a excellent chicken salad with cranberries on it. I digress…
