We waste 40% of produced food. Hunger at Home’s mission is to make sure food that is
prepared goes to hungry people. Started in 2008. They aligned with orgs like Levi Stadium,
Hilton, etc. to train chefs on how to process food for donation. 30k meals a year, 1.2M meals
a year now.
Covid hit, and many co’s and orgs began to call and say they have hundreds of palettes of
food for donation. Hunger at Home pivots to be a production house. 3.2 M meals since
March leveraging the surplus of product available. They also donated 50k bed sheets that
would have gone to the landfill. Sisco and Tailored Farms have donated thousands of
pounds of product to them. The govt is forecasting 50-70% of restaurants will fail in the U.S.
They would love to give tours of their facilities. Food preparation is 7 days / week. 40+ non-
profits rely on this organization for food prep / donation. Lion Claire has done some
volunteering with them.
Other details to follow from Lion Jeff. (contact information, volunteering opportunities, etc.)
