Habitat has sent a thank you letter for our August donation; the letter was written in August but not mailed until October also inviting us to an event that had already past.
Please bring in your pull tabs, need to take to district meeting in November.
Still have a couple more weeks before we have to take to the meeting so please keep bringing the pull tabs.
Crab Feed: – Lion John has not secured the facility yet, but he is going to meet with them soon. Lion Steve has started collecting donations and has received approx. $800 worth so far including 4 tickets to Disneyland.
Food Drive: – Received the OK from Pac n Save to hold our Food Drive there. Lion Dagi is working on getting boxes. Please get the list for “families in need” in to Lion Ray. Look into our club who may have a need for receiving food boxes, look at those who are struggling or out of work….let that charity begin within our own club. It was suggested that we support the 6 new habitat families with a house warming gift of a food box. Lion Kerry will contact the families. Lion Eli will check out the cost of renting a box truck for 3 days to store all non perishables, Lion Jim will check with his sister for the use of her truck or Tony’s trailer, Lion Mike will also check with his company.
Holiday Parade – Dec. 6th downtown San Jose, if interested please let Lion Prez Ray know. It’s a lot of fun. 7:30 a.m.
Blanket Drive – Please bring blankets for the drive before Nov. 7th so Lion Prez Ray can deliver them to the Almaden Super Lions.
Sponsorship committee: – Lion Kent has not heard from Whole Foods yet, still waiting on their $500 check. Still planning on holding a sponsorship committee prior to the PM meeting next Wednesday.
PM meeting – New Lion Mike will be inducted into our club at the next PM meeting, so please everyone come and support him. Lion Kerry to bring camera since Lion Ray cannot attend. This makes 43 members. Yahoooooooo!
Leo’s Club – Lion Kerry asked her friend who teaches at Monte Vista how to go about getting a Leo’s Club started at the school. She said to first get a list of interested students and getting the advisor is easy. We discussed different ways of recruiting, so Lion Kent will contact the Principal. We are willing to put an ad in their newsletter, go during brunch and set up an informational booth, etc. Would be a good time to recruit and use students for the food drive. Lion Cliff has offered to be the club contact for the Leo’s club.
Good of the Order:
Lion Ray said that 11:00 on Veterans Day 11/11/09 there will be a service at the Veterans Memorial.
The Witzit Club fundraiser 2009 event is Nov. 22st 6:00 – 11:30 pm at the San Jose Elks Lodge on Alma. See Lion Ray for details.
Lion Kathy met with Ester at DeAnza, she was interested in the pharmacy cards, may have students in need for Thanksgiving baskets. She also has a meeting with another family in need.
Opportunity drawing– Congratulations! Lion Prez Ray won.
