Tail Twister – Lion Tail Twister Jim G. started off by saying Thank you to all who participated in the annual crab feed dinner and made it a success. Happy dollars were flowing again for all the new grandchildren in the Lions community.
Crab Feed – Lion Al started out by saying he would estimate is that we could hopefully make around $19-$20K dollars depending on the cost of the crab. Lion Jim G. said that he thought the cost of the crab would be around $4.00 lb. for the first 1400 lb.. and $6.00-$6.50 a pound for the 310 lb.. Lion Al then stated that his estimate would be around $13-$15K dollars. Lion Al called for all expense receipts associated with the crab feed so he could finalize the crab feed billing. Lion Steve noted that there was 3 auction items that did not sell, one of which was a wooden chair valued at approximately $310. He will send out another notice about the chair and see if we can sell it. Several items discussed were:
• Date for next years crab feed. • Ticket sales with the Rotarians. • Putting the auction items online prior to the crab feed. • More announcements about auction items and the closing of the silent auction
at the crab feed. • Changing the venue back to the Campbell Community Center after the rebuild
is complete.
• Rotarians did not make signs for the crab feed saw horses. • Parking lot filled up early needed to direct the 5:00P.M. seating to the school
parking lot.
Lion Steve stated that we made around $1,300 dollars more on the auction this year. Lion Steve also stated that one of the winners of the key box drawing gave their winnings back to the Lions/Rotarians.
Leo Update – All Lions in attendance at the crab feed stated that the Leo’s and the other helpers did an excellent job in the crab feed service and sales of the keys and raffle tickets.
Speech Contest – Lion John Smith sent out the following information about the Lions speech contest. Lion Walt Strach volunteered to help out with the speech contest which will fill the needs of volunteers for Lion John Smith.

Tail Twister – Lion Tail Twister Jim G. was by reminded by Lion Phil that the New England Patriots lost there playoff game to which Lion Phil was promptly fined by the tail twister along with everyone that laughed along with Lion Phil. Lion Ray G. gave a happy dollar for his son who just joined the Elks club.
Crab Feed – Lion Al stated that Lion Bill got the wine and beer license for the crab feed. Lion Ray Lancon talked with the priest at Saint Williams Catholic church about getting the keys for the church on Saturday for setup. Lion Prez Steve reminded him to get the wireless microphone at the same time. Lion Eli and Lion Jim G. will pick up the donated beer from the Firestone Brewery on Friday at 3:00 P.M. for anyone who would like to participate. Lion Eli also mentioned that the dumpsters donated by Mission Trails will be delivered by Saturday to the church. Lion Prez Steve passed around the lists of raffle and silent auction donations so everyone could see what was available. We have approximately $10,500 worth of prizes for the silent auction and $2,000 for the raffle. Lion Al stated that there has been approximately 270 tickets sold for the first seating and 170 for the second seating at this time. Lion Mike Martin will get the JC Paper truck after 5 P.M. on Friday. Lion Prez Steve reminded everyone that there is a work party at his house tonight at 6 P.M. to get things ready for the
crab feed raffle and silent auction. Lion Eli asked if it was okay to purchase some Ove gloves for the handling of the hot items at the crab feed it was approved by vote. Lion Jim G. also asked about the purchase of some rubber mats for safety purposes in the kitchen because last year it was very slippery and that was also approved by vote. It was also mentioned that the salad prep for the crab feed will be at Buscher Middle School and will start at 10 A.M. on Saturday the 22nd. Lion Eli said that there is an all hands available gathering at the storage locker on Friday the 21st at 1:00 P.M. to pick up all the necessities for the crab feed.
Leo Update – Lion Kent stated that the Leo’s have 50 volunteers for both seatings of the crab feed. Lion Kent also said he would send out an email about the Leo’s selling crab feed tickets and getting service hours credit for each ticket they sell.
Good of the Order – Lion Prez Steve mentioned that he was contacted by Lion Pat Coppe concerning an issue with a 70 year old individual that needed glasses and asked if we could help. Lion Steve contacted the necessary individuals and provided the with a one sight coupon to get the process rolling toward completion.
Lion Eli reminded everyone that ther was a website/golf meeting on Thursday January 27 at Lion Ray Lancon’s house. Lion Ray L. will send out a reminder with the time.

Tail Twister – Lion Tail Twister Jim G. was summoned by Lion Phil to roll the dice for the Lions Club founders birthday, he rolled eleven so everyone had to pay a dollar. Lion Ray Gamma rolled the dice for his birthday and rolled a three for $2.40. Lion Ray Lancon rolled an eight for his birthday for a payment of $6.40.
Financial Report – Lion Al gave the financial report for the club and community funds. He then said they were on the list server for anyone interested.
Crab Feed – Lion Al started out with ticket sales for the crab feed. The Lions first seating is sold out and approximately forty tickets available for the second seating. The Lions and the Rotarians will meet at 4:00 P.M. today to go over the current ticket count. Lion Prez Steve stated that we had about $12,000 dollars in donations which includes the donations from the Rotary club. There was a discussion about needing volunteers for various crab feed functions. There was a discussion about the insurance on the refrigeration truck. Lions Jim G., Lion Prez Steve and Lion Ray L. will check on the insurance.
Leo Update – Lion Kent stated that all the slots for servers was filled for the Leo’s group and the other groups also. There was a discussion about giving the Leo’s and other kids groups service hours for tickets they sell to the crab feed.
Website – Lion John Noone was able to get the DeAnza Lions crab feed flyer on the 4C-6 web site. Lion Eli stated that there is a website and golf meeting scheduled for January 27, 2011.
Good of the Order – Lions Eli mentioned that Lion Mort, Leslye, and Yvonne are scheduling Flag Day presentations to several Cupertino grade schools at this time. Lion Ted Becker mentioned that H4H had a playhouse available to donate to Via West if they are interested.

Tail Twister – Lion Tail Twister Jim G. was summoned by Lion Jim Goodheart for a happy $10 for the birth of his granddaughter, then new Lion Walt Strach gave money for the birth of his first granddaughter all followed up by Lion Charlie Waters with money on his announcement of the birth of his first granddaughter. Banter abound about the most beautiful granddaughter. Fun was had by all. Lion Dagi gave a happy dollar for being back from all her trips save and sound.
Crab Feed – Lion Al started out with saying that 270 tickets have been sold for the first seating and that we had about 150 tickets available for the second seating. Lion John Smith volunteered to be the MC for the program. Lion Jim Gould asked for volunteers for various tasks. Various Lions are checking on insurance for the refrigeration truck. Lion Prez Steve stated that we had about $8,100 dollars in donations hoping to reach $10,000. There was discussion about purchasing several new chairs to replace old ones that were thrown away.
Leo Update – Lion Kent stated that he was working with the Leo’s group on volunteers for the crab feed. Lion Jim Gould said that he would talk with the Rotarians about getting volunteers from their Rotoract club.
Good of the Order – Lions Kent and John N. gave a review of the web site committee meeting on Monday night. Lion Prez Steve stated that Lion Yvonne Fimby is working on the Installation dinner scheduled for June 25, 2011. Lion Jim Goodheart mentioned his run for 2nd Vice District Governor.

De Anza Lions PM Minutes Wednesday, January 05, 2011
Lions Attending: Jill, Scott, Pete, Mike M., Ray, Charlie, Leslye, Jim, Yvonne, Dan, Carl, Jeff, Ron, Steve, Al, Eli,Vijay, Howie, Mort, Eli, and new member, Maria, and Mike Ringer.
The Best Guests: Ellen, Barb, Sydnie, Sophia. *Special thanks for Ellen Ratner’s art table-it’s a hit (as is she!).
Mike Martin led us in the flag salute and the meeting started at 6:40. General poll shows that this new Campbell RT location gets a thumb ups!
Tailtwister: fined a phone going off, and then proceeded to collect many Happy Dollars-lots for Pete and Rene, Sydnie and her new doll, the New Year, and for Charlie’s new granddaughter, Stanford’s big win!
Induction of New Member: Welcome, Maria Rivera! Al led the ceremony, assisted by Steve Ratner. Maria lives in San Jose, works as a dental assistant, was introduced through Ellen and Steve. Maria is also taking an eyeglass box to help us with eyeglass collection.
Crab Feed 2011: Steve said that there are $ 8,600. 00 in donation money. We have sold 270 tickets to the first seating, DAL have sold out the tickets we have, Rotary still has some. We have sold 180 tickets to the second seating. Put the word out and the flyer to get the second seating filled. Al is asking Jim to get a hold of the Rotarians for a $400.00 dollar donation. Jeff is asking why we don’t use Craig’s List, if necessary. Put it on Facebook, send it to your email friends, get the word out, get the money, and give them a ticket. Carl will get the sign-up sheet on Google docs tonight. ALL hands on deck-all the work assignments are on there, including parking people. Leos will also be involved. The 20th of January, Thursday, at the Ratner’s is the ticket tearing and the preparation of the raffle items. The 21st early Friday, is the Crab cracking party. The Saturday morning prep crew will be at Buchser Middle School again, in the same room. Then, there will need to be a crew for the Sunday AM clean up. Donuts and coffee will be available at Ellen and Steve Ratner’s , and the clean-up crew will be located in their driveway. The band is 90% in. We are still looking for an emcee for the evening. Saturday we can get into the church at 2:00. Board approval asked for by Jim to get a coffee maker to melt butter in for $25.00.
Charter Night 2011: The celebration of our club’s birthday is to take place on March 19th at the Blue Pheasant. There will be a choice of fish, chicken, and beef. The price is going to be the same as last year. Good time, food, and company-and the presentations and emceeing by John Smith.
Lion Flag Day 2011:
Lions give a flag day presentation, but it can be done any time during the school year. We need a chair and co-chair for this part of our club. The chair and co-chair contact and go out to the schools, and give a presentation to the students and flags.    Mort will chair the committee and Yvonne and Leslye will help her present.

Good of the Order:
    Installation dinner (organized by Yvonne) which will be in Milpitas at the Big Dog Winery on June 25th , there will be a band, food, etc.
 Website-Carl says small changes are that the public calendar closely mimics the private calendar. Kent wants a list of what we do and Carl suggested we use Twitter for that (events, glasses, pull tabs). If you want to add a tweet-send it to Ron, Carl, or Jeff 140 characters or language.
    Carl Erickson’s parents sent a check for $150.00 in the name of the Erickson, Eliason, Ludlum Lion’s Club.

Tail Twister – Lion Tail Twister Jim G. started the day with having Lion Kent roll the dice for his birthday and he rolled a lucky eight costing him $4.80. Lion Ray Lancon gave a happy dollar for his safe return from his skiing trip. Lion tail twister Jim Gould passed around a photo asking people to take a good look at it and see if they could identify who and what was going on. It turned out to be Lion Ray Gamma and his niece at the last Crab feed, so Lion Jim fined him a dollar.
Crab Feed – Lion Jim G. said the Rotarians had sold 119 tickets for the first seating and 44 for the second seating. Our Lions group has sold 148 tickets for the first seating and 75 for the second seating. Lion Al said there was a discrepancy in the number of tickets sold by the Rotarians and the money he received. Lion Prez Steve said he would send out another reminder on the crab feed after the first of the year. Lion Jim G. said he is working on a sale of forty tickets at this time. Lion Prez said we had approximately $8,000 dollars in donations for the raffle and silent auction at this time. Lion Mike Martin is working on getting the refrigeration truck. Lion Ray L. said he would check with the LCIF for insurance on the refrigeration truck.
Leo Update – Lion Kent reported that the Monta Vista Leo’s club are currently dark as they are on Christmas vacation. Lion Kent mentioned that he was trying to get a sign up sheet for the crab feed for the Leo’s. Lion Jim G. said we would need approximately 100 Leo’s to fill the needs from 4:30 to 10:30 P.M. Lion Kent said the Leo’s would get support from the other school groups if necessary.
Speech Contest – Lion John Smith is trying to coordinate with Lion Bob Ferber at this time.
Good of the Order – Lion Ray Gamma mentioned other crab feed functions going on at this time and he would bring info on them for us. The next P.M. meeting will be on Jan. 5, 2011 at the RTP at 1400 Campbell Ave. in Campbell. The DeAnza Lions will purchase $100 worth of raffle tickets from the Youth Exchange Foundation. Lion Al mention that Barbara and his grand-daughter would be taking our adult individual to San Francisco for her eye exam at the Lions eye foundation today. Lion Al will send Lion Prez Steve information on induction procedures.

Induction Lion Prez Steve inducted our newest member Lion Walter J. Strach Jr. this morning and now we have our own in house meteorologist. Please join me in welcoming Walt.

Crab Feed – Lion Jim and a few DeAnza lions will meet with the Sunnyvale Rotary at 4 PM today to review details of the work schedule and ticket sales for the Crab Feed

Lion Prez Steve & Ellen have collected about $7,100. in raffle and auction items. We still have a lot of tickets for the second seating so spread the word and sell tickets.

Lion Eli is working with the new waste collection company in Los Altos to secure two donated dumpsters for the crab feed at St. Williams.

Lion Kent will put out the word to our MV Leo Club when they get back from the holiday break that we can use 50 volunteers for each seating to serve and assist.

Good of the Order Lion Prez Steve announced that on Tuesday December 28th at 11:30 AM DeAnza lions will have lunch at Ruffled Feathers and present Kerry with a Blind Center award. Please check you e-mail or contact Steve3 if you would like to go.
