Crab Feed Debrief
Looking at about 9,000.00 dollars or so as what we have raised. The involvement of both Rotarians and Lions was excellent and, while we were hoping for about 12 grand, so our budget might be a little tighter. The wireless microphone in the back was clearer than the system they had. Next year we should do some testing of that system to see which one is the better way to go. We are hoping to get our deposit back and wondering if we need to get mops next year as we didn’t have access. It would also be great if everyone who is volunteering can sign up on the sheet to lessen confusion on jobs at last minute.
Charter Night 2011
Since we have kids welcome this year, we have more families coming. This will take place on March 19 at Blue Pheasant. Cocktails start at 5:20. We have about 38 now and the restaurant is looking for a number by the 12th of March. Dress is nice, no jeans, please. We are hoping to get a Leo to help babysit possibly.
Student Speaker Contest
We are looking for one more volunteer for the next level coming up soon. Had 4 people and then, 2 have moved on to the Zone contest.
Tidbits and Reminders     Board meeting at the Ratner’s on Tuesday, March 8.
    John Smith is heading the Chair Nomination committee. John is interested in hearing from anyone who is interested in serving a role, or changing a role, in the next couple weeks. A big need is a vice-president who will succeed the current president when he steps down. John will send out an email soon about it.
    Carl has been updating the Twitter posts when we have a volunteer or donation that has recently occurred. This is also serving as a history of the last twenty or so things that have happened.
    Eyeglasses: Ellen took a student from Campbell Middle School to Lenscrafters and this was the first time she had gotten glasses. She got her glasses right away and her headaches and squinting, immediately improved. Kathy is working with a young man from Lynbrook High School, who is legally blind. He is doing very well now that he has bifocals and has moved up a level in reading.
    Installation Dinner Update: Yvonne passed out some information on the dinner at the Big Dog Winery. Looks like great fun! June 25th. After Charter Night, Yvonne will start working on setting up sign ups for the party and for various volunteer activities: set up, clean up, etc. Mike Ringer suggested that we have a back-up plan for kids who need glasses but don’t fit the profile (insurance reasons, broken and not replaced, etc.). Dr. Child in Cupertino Family Eye Care said that she would be willing to do 2 free examinations if we needed it.
