Tail Twister – Many Happy Dollars were given. Most notable were those from Lion John for his wife’s successful surgery, Lion Steve for his upcoming visit to his son’s home in Texas, and for a “Happy Mothers Day” for which we men should not take our wives for granted.
Review of the PM Meeting – It was an exuberant meeting. Club welcomed back Lion Prez Jeff who will run next months meeting. Kudos to Lion Carl for filling in for him for the last several meetings.
Crab Feed – Lions Steve, Carl, and Eli visited the Portuguese Hall in Santa Clara to see if it would make a suitable replacement for St William Church. General consensus is that it could work but would require more labor. Seats 500 people but dining and social activities would be on two different levels. City of Santa Clara requires security. Parking may be an issued. Committee would like input from Lion Jim who is away attending to health issues of his father. Committee thinks we would seriously consider if we could negotiate a cost less than that of St William Church. St William is asking $2900 to use their facility next year.
Still no word from Sunnyvale Sunrise Rotary Club as to our proposal of 70/30 split of revenue on future crab feeds.
Golf Tournament – GOLFERS and TEE SPONSORS NEEDED. Lion Al said we currently have about 50 golfers. It takes around 80 paid players to break even. Lion Kent will arrange for the pizza and Lion Scott will pick it up.
Lion Steve reported that we now have $10,000 in donations thanks to Lion Claire. A large part of that is from the 110 coupons given by Willow Street Pizza for pizzas and burgers. The coupons will be put into the golfer goody bags. The work party will be at the Ratner home on June 16th at 5 pm. Lion Steve and Ellen will supply the ribs, beer, wine and soda.
Lion Ron will print out the Tee signs. He needs to know by June 11th the names of those people or organizations that have donated.
District 4-C6 Convention – The annual convention will be from May12th -15th at Woodlake Red Lion in Sacramento. Lions Ray, Al, Phil and Walt have been designated as our voting delegates. Voting will take place on Saturday morning, May 14th.
Fish A Thon – According to Lion Jim Isaacson this was another very successful year for the Fish A Thon. There were more participants, bigger fish, and more fish caught. Kudos to Lions Ron and Ray for helping out with setup on Friday and Lions Kent and Mary for helping the kids on Saturday.
Camp Via West – The annual maintenance work has been scheduled for May 27th and 28th at Camp Via. Work begins at 1 pm on Friday for power washing. The painting will begin on the 28th at 9:30 am. Bring rollers and trays for the paining. Let Lion Bill or Lion Ray know if you are willing to help.
Couriers for June Election – Volunteers are still needed as mid-day and evening couriers. Email Monique Herrera at the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters Monique.herrera@rov.sccgov.org if you are interested. For questions you can call her at 408-282-3284 or call Lion John Noone.
Each courier shift earns $65 for driver and $65 for partner. Only the driver is required to have training, but each trainee receives $10. Indicate that you are part of the De Anza Lions group so your pay can be put in a single check and go to our treasurer.
