6. Welcome Lion John Kolski — Lion Jeff
John is joining our club from the Cupertino Host Club. He’s a referral from Lion Phil. He’s been associated with the Lions wince 1990. He’s been president and has been very active in the district. He was the chairman of their “wild game feed”, which has raised up to 60k with 1,200 guests.
7. Buscher School Career Day –
Tuesday 5/9 is the event. We’ve been supporting their career day for several years. We’ll be hauling over tables on Tues, and Weds @ 12:00 we’ll be returning the tables. We need people to help on Weds.
This is a great experience for the kids. Police, Fire, doctors and engineers all talk to the kids about their careers. We could use some more volunteers. Contact Lion Eli or Jill if you have questions.
8. Lions in Sight Donation – Lion Jeff
This is one of the easiest projects we do, and is connected directly to Lionism’s core. Approx 4,300 glasses were recently delivered (+ printer cartridges)
9. Camp Coastanoan Via West – Lion Jeff
Dates are set. Work is Memorial Day Weekend. Work begins after 1:00 on 5/26. Plan is to re-build the seating at the fire circle. Clean and stain the seating. We’re going to need a lot of volunteers for this set of work. We’ll get a Google doc going for volunteers.
10. Update, Call for Support! Charity Golf Classic 2017 – Lion Jeff, Amy, Jen
30th annual golf tournament! We need * a lot * of people to sign up. We need to get our people rallied, signed up and involved. Sierra School signed up as a silver sponsor. We need golfers.
Meeting today with Moffett. Amy and Jen met with Gary and Rich. Food service – we secured price as $15 / head (dinner, coffee, juice). Food choices: Taco bar, pasta, pasta salad and burgers.
We’ll get a survey out to take pulse on what teams would prefer on food choices. Beer on the course is still being worked out. Some type of snack will be offered on course. There is a pitcher for every foursome that comes off the course. Both Amy and Jen felt it was a huge win today.
Cost now is $72 per golfer (our cost is $60). (pricing includes cart) Targeting 150 golfers.
We still need jobs filled! Please sign up on the google doc or e mail Amy.
We’re losing Lehigh Cement as a silver sponsor. There were also 8 players.
OB Sports will be given an honorary silver sponsorship due to the discounts they’re offering us.
We have 7 paid (3 are lions). We are 40 behind where we were last year at this time.
On 5/19 there will be a dinner and performance by a Johnny Cash impersonator our of Vegas. It’s 65 / person. If we can fill a table of 8, we’ll get a discount. Let Amy know if you’re interested.
11. De Anza Lions at the 2017 Convention, Thanks Lion Al & Barb! – Lion Jeff
Al and Barb graciously adjusted their schedules to go to the convention this weekend in Santa Maria. Many thanks to the Knox’s for participating.
12. Update, Call for Support! Ride 4 Diabetes 2017 – Lion Kent
We have a lot of work to do. Down to the last 3.5 months.
We’re short of corp sponsors and riders. We’re putting together
business cards and fliers that have QR codes on them.
The ADA is going to cross-advertise with their rider base for
Tour-de-Cure. We’ll be promoting the Rider for Diabetes at the
Tour-de-Cure with a tent (6/11).
YMCA is going to put posters at their doorfronts in exchange for
a booth at the ride. All 11 YMCAs are going to advertise in their
newsletters (reader base of approx. 17k).
We’re tackling Apple, Whole Foods, Sierra Nevada Ale, SAP, Lockheed Martin, LinkedIn, SalesForce.
Website has been fully updated.
What we really need at this point is club support. Get involved!
