Board Meeting Minutes, 08.18.2015

Type: Board Meeting

Meeting Date: Tuesday 18 August, 2015

Meeting Time: 7:42 pm

Location Knox Compound

Members Present: Lion Pres Jeff, Lions Al, Ray, and Walt

  1. Fiscal Review – Finances are in good shape. Budgets are out. Lion Al reported there are still four government reports to get out in the next 5 ½ months. He could use some help with the books. Considering going to a CPA. Ideally it would be nice if we could find a local CPA who might want to join our club and help out.
  1. A.J. Robinson Day & Membership Drive – We will have the AJ Robinson van at Memorial Park on Saturday, 12 September from 9 am to 6 pm. Lion Ray says we still need more help especially on the 3 – 6 pm shift. We will look into inviting Jim Isaacson and some of the other clubs to help us out.

We will have separate tents for registration and membership drive. Lion Prez Jeff says we should have Leos and younger members help out with membership drive.

Michael Riccomi, a lion from Almaden Valley is now working in our area and he is interested in joining our club. Lion Prez Jeff will reach out to him.

  1. Leadership and Participation – We need to diversify our membership. Looking for replacement for Lion Jim who wants out of Crab Feed. Need mentoring program. This program needs to be on standing agenda at our board meetings.
  1. Upcoming Visitors, September Meetings – District Governor Jan Miller will attend AM meeting this Thursday, August 20th. She also asked to attend the September PM meeting. Lion Prez Jeff advised her we already have a speaker for September PM meeting and asked if she wanted to reschedule. As yet Prez Jeff has not received a reply.

October PM meeting will feature a speaker from Invision, a shelter for women and children.

  1. Eyeglasses Collection – Amod Bhole, a boy scout working on his Eagle badge would like to send scouts door to door asking for eye glasses. Lion Prez Jeff is working with him and has suggested Amod send scouts out to optometry offices and community centers to see about setting up collection stations there instead. That would allow our club to continue with their program long after the scouts have fininshed.
  2. Other Charity/Foundation Updates – Omar’s Dream Run website is now open for registration. Date is Sunday, 11 October at 9 am. Cost is $35 and includes a tee shirt. Board has agreed to provide tables and chairs and sweat equity.
  1. Club Updates – Lions Dagi and John are asking about updating website as to which events we want to promote. Board recommends: AJ Robinson, Omar’s Dream Run, and Food Drive.
