Type: Board Meeting

Meeting Date: Tuesday 19 January 2016

Meeting Time: 7:30 pm

Location Knox Compound

Members Present: Lions Carl, Al, Bill, Steve, Amy, and Walt

  1. Fiscal Review – Club report is out but the Foundation report is not yet completed.
  1. Lion Jeff and his Leave of Absence – Lion Howie and his wife Katherine are in need of continuous care. It was suggested we invite Lion Prez Jeff to our next meeting so we can get an idea as to how long he will need to devote his time to parents. For now, Lion Carl has agreed to fill in on a temporary basis.
  1. Charter Night-A proposal was brought forth and passed to increase the budget for Charter Night from $100 to $500. The money would be used to pay for the cost of guest meals, tip, having a bar downstairs, kids meals and the Leos meals. The dinner will be held at the Blue Pheasant on March 19th. Cost will be $38.
  1. Crab Feed – Lion Al reported that there are 377 tickets sold, 78 open seats for 1st seating and 140 open for 2nd seating. Someone had complained to Lion Jim that our website was saying the 1st seating was sold out. Lion Carl checked it out and corrected the wording.  According to the signup sheet we are still short of help, especially in the kitchen. It was suggested we might be able to get some of the older Leos and Interact students to help there. Lion Carl reported he doesn’t want to park the refrigerated truck in front of his home overnight. He is looking into parking it at Bucher Middle School instead.
  1. Follow up to Past Topics – No action has been taken to proceed with Kent Vincent’s idea to hold a bike race. Someone needs to step forward and take charge of developing the idea.
  1. Other Club Updates
    1. Poster Contest – No interest has been expressed to date for ordering poster kits this year.
    2. Student Speaker Contest- Will be held on February 4th, 7 pm at the Odd Fellows Hall. Four judges have committed. Two students have registered, one each from Monte Vista High and Cupertino High. We turned down a request from Delmar High in Campbell to send a student because the school is not with the boundaries of the Fremont Union High School District.
