PM Meeting Review
AJ Robinson Mobile Screening Unit: Thanks to Lion Ray and all the volunteers who helped. Special thanks to the Leos who brought in people and acted as interpreters when needed. Our volunteers screened 108 people. At the AM meeting this morning Lion Kent suggested we volunteer to do this again next year.
Lion Jenni asked how do school parents who want to volunteer get a TB test if it is required and they do not have the money or insurance? Cost is $80. Some clinics do it for $17. Maybe our Lions Club can help out.
Omar’s Dream: 95 volunteers are signed up. No more are needed. Still need runners and donations. Lions Eli, Ron and possibly Herb will help delivering things out of storage on Saturday and with setup and tear down on Sunday. If you decide to come to the event to see what is going on, make sure to wear your yellow jacket.
Thanksgiving Food Drive: Lion Yvonne has received over $2,000 in donations from her car club. Her car club people will take care of the sorting and boxing up of the food at the Odd Fellows Hall. Volunteers are needed at the Lucky Supermarkets and especially for distribution 6 – 8 am on Monday.
Christmas Party: We are in need of a new venue for the party this year. At the AM meeting this morning it was suggested we have it at the Odd Fellows Hall. Lion Don is checking on dates of availability. Lion Al said his wife, Barb, would chair the setup.
Crab Feed: Lion Steve is starting to receive donations. At AM meeting he announced we now have four tickets to Disneyland. The Sunnyvale Sunrise Rotary Club is losing members. We may need to find some other group to partner with.
Guest Speakers: At the November meeting a speaker from New Red Shoes will talk about supporting low-income families and children to stay in school. DG Lion Jan Miller has rescheduled her visit for the December meeting.
Good of the Order
Rebekah Children’s Services is hosting their 13th Annual Festival of Trees fundraiser 6 – 10 pm on November 20th at the Corinthian Event Center in San Jose. Cost is $125 each. This is a formal affair. Lion Al suggested that rather than donating our regular $500 we consider buying four tickets so that some of our club members could attend. Item will be discussed at the Board Meeting on October 20th.
Future Fundraiser: Lion Kent again suggested we consider putting on a Fun Run or Bicycle Race. There are a number of trails in and around Cupertino. He knows of a 501c3 bike event company that would be willing to partner with us. He will bring up the idea at the next Board Meeting on October 20th.
Opportunity Drawing – Congratulations to our winner, Lion Don.
