Review of Board Meeting
Golf Tournament: Lion Al says the estimate net profit is $20,354 but continuing to rise. Ellis Street gate now open 7 days a week. Golf course is in good condition. Google plans to assess golf course needs in November. General consensus it that the food was not very good and beer was expensive. Lion Kent recommended we pay a fee to the golf course for food and beer but provide our own. Lion Steve has 2 donated golf clubs left over from the auction. Will save for next year.
AJ Robinson: We will be staffing the AJ Robinson medical screening van for the Silicon Valley Fall Festival at the Cupertino Memorial Park on Saturday, September 12th. Lions and Leos needed in 3-hour shifts to manage the van. Contact Lion Ray if you are willing to volunteer. We are looking for a nurse to assist us. Lion Ray will ask Lion Val Isaacson. A board member from AJ Robinson will be invited to a PM meeting to show how the equipment works.
Eagle Scout Project: A Boy Scout from troop #494 wants to work with our club on a project to earn his Eagle Scout badge. It is recommended he setup a program to collect old eyeglasses. Our club can provide collection boxes and literature.
Forward Edge Project: Claire Kalia has a friend/teacher who is going to Nicaragua to help setup and operation of a home rescue center. The board agreed to donate $250.
Cupertino High School Debate Team: Their debate team is looking for donations. Since our Speech Contest is open to all students in the Fremont Union High School District, the board decided against giving them any money. We don’t want to provide any school or club an advantage over other schools and clubs that participate.
The following meeting/party dates were established:
Budget meeting will be on July 16th, 7 – 9 pm at Lion Al’s home.
Board meeting has been moved to July 28th.
The Induction of new officers and Tail twister party will be on August 8th.
Good of the Order:
Odd Fellows Pancake breakfast is this Saturday from 8 am to 11 am in the Odd Fellows Hall. All proceeds to benefit cancer.
Pull Tabs: Lion Phil reminded us to keep saving and bringing in pull-tabs. Lion Kent brought in a large bag courtesy of the Auburn Lions.
We received a Thank You Letter from Diabetes Youth Families for our $400 in support of the 29th Annual Lions International Club Diabetes Camp Fundraiser.
Opportunity Drawing: Congratulations Lion Steve & thanks for donating your share to the Cupertino DeAnza Lions Club.
