Review of the PM Meeting
International Director, Lion Jack Epperson presented Lion Pres Jeff with a pin. He also spoke to the group about:
- Reinstate 3 VP international director positions.
- US and Canada will each loose 1 director position this year and the US for the next 3 years because of declining membership.
- There is a change in voting procedures at the District Convention. Member dues must be paid at least 15 days prior to the convention.
- Policy manual has been revised with emphasis on events and service rather than meetings.
- International Lions Organization has now invested 17 million dollars in the Special Olympics.
- Need to begin reading Lion Magazine on line. Beginning in 2018, hardcopies will only be sent out quarterly.
Ms Portia Whitehead spoke about her volunteering at Villa Esperanza in Nicaragua. Villa Esperanza helps young girls escaping the slums. Last year our club gave $250 via Forward Edge International.
Omar’s Dream Run – The event is scheduled for Sunday, October 11th at Hellyer Park in San Jose. Parking at the park is $6. Lion Eli attended the recent planning meeting and said the organization committee needs volunteers, participants and donations. If you want to participate, registering online at omarsdream.org. Volunteers should also register online. Lion Eli will need a crew on Oct 10th to haul tables and chairs to San Jose. The crew will be needed again on Oct 11th to set up everything then take everything down at the end of the day. This year’s donations/profits will include providing equipment to Valley Medical Center.

The Fall Festival will be a week from this Saturday. We have picked up two more volunteers for the third shift but there is still room if you would like to help. For more information contact Lion Bernie between now and September 7th. Thereafter you should contact Lion Ray.
