Thanksgiving Food Drive

Lion Claire has invited 5 non-Lions to help out at the Lucky stores. Lion John says we’re in good shape regarding Lions staffing both stores. Leos are needed on Sunday to work the Santa Clara Lucky store. Lion Ray has received the new boxes and will bring them to the Odd Fellows Hall on the morning of the food drive. Lion Jims and John will get the refrigerated truck early Saturday morning. Help is still needed loading up and delivering the boxes of food on Monday morning after the food drive. Make sure to bring your gloves Monday.

Crab Feed

The Monterey crab feed has been cancelled. We have not yet decided if we will do the same. Lion John said there was in article in the San Jose Mercury News quoting someone at the Fish Market saying that those considering having a crab feed could use lobster instead. One of our concerns is the high cost of lobster.

Good of the Order

Leo Induction – The Monta Vista Leo Club induction will be this Sunday, November 15th, 5 pm at Jollyman Park. Make sure to come and wear your yellows. Jollyman Park is on south Stelling Road just north of Highway 85 in Cupertino.

Veterans Day Parade – Lion Don said he participated in the Veterans Day Parade in San Jose and thought our Club should consider doing so next year. Good exposure for our Club.

Eye Glasses – Lion Jill is getting ready to deliver the eyeglasses to Vallejo sometime after Thanksgiving and before Christmas. If you have any glasses, this would be a good time to turn them in.

Stop Hunger Now – The annual district Stop Hunger Now packaging event will begin 10 am at St Francis Episcopal Church, 1205 Pine Street, San Jose. We will be working in teams to package dry foods into meal bags.

Cabinet Meeting – The District’s 2nd Cabinet Meeting of the year will be held this Saturday, 90 East Tasman Drive in San Jose. Lion Ray has offered to represent our Club at the meeting.

Christmas Party – So far 50 people have signed up to attend the Christmas party. If you have not yet responded, please do so soon. The will be a planning meeting on Friday, November 13th at Lion Al and Barb’s home. Let them know if you would like to participate. On the day of the Christmas party 4 or 5 Lions will be needed to help cleanup. Wine and beer will be served at the party. The Odd Fellows Hall does not allow for hard liquor.

Golf Tournament – The golf tournament is tentatively scheduled for June 18th. Several issues need to be addressed including golf carts, beer tent, and cost to use the golf course.

Opportunity Drawing – Not available this week.
