Food Drive

Lion John said we now have two refrigerated trucks available to us, the 16 footer from Monarch and a 24 footer from Penske. Lion Ray has ordered the boxes at $1.01 each. Lion Jim said we my be able to purchase some large cardboard boxes from the Pumpkin Patch to use for hauling the turkeys.

Save the dates: November 21st, 22nd and 23rd. Volunteers are needed for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Crab Feed

Lion Al is now taking orders for Crab Feed tickets. The tickets are being printed and will be available by October 15th. Cost is $50 each.

There was a meeting tonight at 7 pm with the Sunnyvale Rotary Club at Tu Mero Mole, 590 Old San Francisco Road Sunnyvale.

We have agreed to rent the hall at Saint Williams Church for $2600. Cost will go up again next year. We are looking into possibly moving the venue to the Elks Club in San Jose next year. Ray will check it out.

Various ways to cut down costs were discussed. Lion Eli suggested two: 1) pre ordering bottles of wine and 2) returning to have us Lions clean the crab.

Omar’s Dream Run

The Dream Run will have a planning meeting this Saturday, 11am, at Hellyer Park. Lion Al will be helping with registration the day of the event and can use 1 or 2 volunteers. Lion Eli still needs help bringing supplies to the staging area on the Saturday before the race and with setup and teardown on Sunday, October 11th. Walkers, runners, and donations for the event are still being accepted. Signup at their web site: omarsdream.org.

Good of the Order

4C6 District Governor Jan Miller and Cabinet Secretary Sue Szucs will visit the PM meeting next Wednesday evening, October 7th. Let’s have a big turnout to welcome them!

The Flag Team will be at Kathryn Hughes Elementary School on Thursday, October 15th. There will be two presentations at 9 am and 9:30 am with three classes participating. Picnic will be held in the spring. A Flag Day presentation is being organized for Sutter Elementary School in May. Please contact Lion Mort if you would like to help out.

Lion Ron has picked up some crab pots, cups with lids and a number of other items for our club. The company his daughter works for is moving and no longer needs them.

Lion Steve received a letter of thanks from a client our club helped in getting a new pair of glasses.

Our De Anza Leo’s Club is having a membership day next Thursday. Lion Kent has asked to borrow one of our banners for the event.

For a future fundraiser Lion Kent suggested we should consider putting on a Fun Run or Bicycle Race. He said he knows of a 501c3 bike event company that would be willing to partner with us. It was suggested he bring the idea up to our Board at their next meeting.

Opportunity Drawing – Congratulations to our winner, Lion Jim.
