AM Meeting Minutes, 09/24/2015

Tail Twister – Acting Tail Twister Lion Eli went around the room collecting Happy Dollars. Several Happy Dollars were given in honor of Lion Jim’s return and visit by PM Lions Yvonne and Dan.
Food Drive
Lion John has contacted the organizations we serve assessing their needs. The YWCA has asked if we could add 15 more people from their Trauma Group. Though we would like to help out, Lion Ray said our club is maxed out at 160 clients. As an alternate Lion Al suggested we increase our donation to the YWCA by $250. Note: Action item for next month’s Board Meeting.
The 26 ft refrigerated truck we normally rent is not available from our normal venders. Monarch has a 16 ft truck we can rent. Everyone thought that should work out fine and save us some money. If we use the smaller truck, we will need to use the JC paper truck to help with deliveries on Monday. Lion Steve will check with Lion Mike to see if it will be available.
Lion Ray will see about getting the insurance for the refrigerated truck through the insurance policy of the AJ Robinson MSU. Lion Ray’s son no longer works for the company from which we have been getting the boxes. We can still get the same boxes through the same company but will have to pay $330 for them.
Lion Eli said we need MORE volunteers for distribution on Monday. CAN YOU HELP?!
Crab Feed
Cost to rent the hall at Saint Williams Church has nearly doubled. Lion Pres Jeff is writing them a letter to see if they will lower the price for us. We are also considering other venues. Lion Ray everyone to see if they can find an alternate site. We need a location that can hold 300 people and has a large kitchen with two sinks. If so, report back to Lion Ray.
There will be a meeting tonight 7 pm with the Rotarians at Tu Mero Mole, a Mexican restaurant at 590 Old San Francisco Road in Sunnyvale. The restaurant is located at the corner of Old San Francisco Road and Fair Oaks Avenue.
Omar’s Dream Run
The Dream Run will be on Sunday, October 11th at Hellyer Park in San Jose. Parking is $6. Walkers, runners, volunteers, and donations are needed. If you would like to help out, please sign up at their web site: omarsdream.org.
Lion Al, Barb plus 2 others will be working registration the day of the race. Lion Kent is contacting the Monte Vista Leos for help at the event.
Lion Eli is in need of Lion Volunteers to help deliver tables, chairs and misc to a staging area in San Jose on Saturday. He also needs help on Sunday bringing these items to Hellyer Park to setup Sunday morning and then take down Sunday afternoon. Call him if you are willing to assist.
Good of the Order
For anyone who wants to help with fire relief in Northern California, Lion Claire has a friend who’s church is leading a relief effort and seeking donations of items. Donations can be dropped off at either of two church locations in West San Jose. Please see the attached email.
