TAIL TWISTER – Acting Tail Twister Lion Eli joyfully went around the room collecting Happy Dollars and change. Special recognition was given to the support we received from the  Monta Vista and De Anza Leos.

LEO’S AWARD DINNER – Last Friday there was an award dinner at BJ’s in Cupertino for the Monta Vista Leo’s. Lion Kent passed out 1 Gold Seal and 10 Silver Seal award to deserving students. The Gold Seal is for 100 hours of service and the Silver for 50 hours. On average only 1 Leo in 10 clubs receives an award. Our thanks to Lion Kent and the Leos for their fine service.

DIABETES BBQ – THE Annual Camp for Kids with Diabetes BBQ was last Saturday at the Elks Lodge in Santa Clara. Apparently the BBQ lunch was very successful. Lion Al heard from Lion Val that they were very impressed with the 2 baskets our Club had donated.

CUPERTINO FALL FESTIVAL – Our Club will replace Cupertino Host at the Fall Festival on September 12th from 10 am to 5 pm. We will be operating the AJ Robinson Mobile Health Van. Volunteers are needed to help with registration, eyesight, and hearing tests. A diabetes test will also be performed if we can get a nurse to assist. All tests are free. Leos will be asked to help. Contact Lion Ray if you would like to volunteer.

REVIEW OF PM MEETING – Buchser Middle School Carrier Day – Our Club would like to thank Lions Mort, Eli, Ron, and Ray with helping setup/gate duty and Lion Walt as a presenter. The Career Day featured a large range of exhibiters and the 8th grade students appeared to have had a good time.

GOLF TOURNAMENT – Lion Amy has posted the assignment list on the Internet. We need you to signup NOW. Note: you may need to register in order to get online and use the signup list.

Lion Al said this will likely be our most successful Golf Tournament. 112 golfers have signed up but it appears we may have 120+ wanting to participate. Lion Eli thinks we will need 6 additional golf carts and is planning on discussing this with Moffett Field. Our Sponsorship this year has also been very good. Lion Ron is preparing 55 tee signs and has ordered 20 new signs. Lion Steve says there will be $9000 in donated items. Great job lions!!

The Golf Committee needs to know what division you want to play in. The divisions are: Corporate, Service, Open, and Co-ed.

Work party is Thursday, 5 pm at the Ratner home. We will be filling goodie bags, folding programs, and preparing tickets. Lion Steve promises there will be plenty to eat and drink…ribs, beer, wine, pop and diet pop. Please let the Ratner’s know how many you are bringing.

Friday, 11am there will be a golf outing at Los Lagos. Let Lion Eli know if you are interested in participating.

Friday, 1 pm there will be a storage run for supplies. Let Lion Eli know if you would like to help out.

Friday 5 pm is the Welcome Potluck Party at the Eliason home. Please bring a food item and something to drink. If there are potential Lions in your golf party, please invite them. Let Lions Mort and Eli know how many are coming.

GOOD OF THE ORDER – We received a Thank You letter from Monta Vista High School principal for our $200 donation to their Chess Club. The donation helped finance their trip to Ohio where they placed 1st in the Chess Tournament.

Lion Mort made a nice donation to our club in honor of her grandchildren. Sidney has advanced two grade levels in her math skills and little Eli recently had a cap and gown graduation ceremony. Congratulations Sidney and little Eli!

OPPORTUNITY DRAWING – Congratulations to our winner, Lion Steve. This is his second win in a row. Thanks Lion Steve for donating your winnings to the Club.
