Lion Al said that Lion Suda has volunteered to be the Lions advisor for the Lynbrook Leo’s club. Thank you Lion Suda for supporting the Leo’s club of Lynbrook.
Lion Al made the motion to approve the 2020/2021 club budget and it was passed.
The bylaws of the club was approved and will be sent out to club members.
The current Golf Classic fund raiser is currently at $2,263. As of now Lion Al reported that we have $1250 dollars from Lions and $1,013 from non-members. Lion Dagi looked at the Go Fund Me page while we were discussing it and said that it is currently at $2513.
Camp Via West – Lion Joan and Lion Dagi bought some potting soil from Home Depot. Lion Joan said she talked with Home Depot and they would donate some of the materials we purchase if we give them a letter of our 501-c3 status and our tax identification number. There are others like Summerwinds that we can do the same with if we give them the same information. Lion Steve said he would send Lion Joan a copy of the letter that we use and she can edit it for the appropriate vendor. Lion Joan said a lot of work was accomplished and we planted vegetable seeds in the out door garden and would like to do some planting in the green house this weekend. Lion Joan got some volunteers to go up Saturday the 25th at 9:30 AM to start plants in the green house. If you would like to volunteer contact Lion Joan or be at Camp Via West at 9:30 AM. Lion Joan talked about getting free compost for the garden from the City of Cupertino compost area. We need a couple of pickups to load up the compost to take to Camp Via West. It was mentioned that the earliest the kids would be in the camp would be February. Any vegetables we harvest prior to that we would donate to West Valley Community Services.
Homeless Project – Lion Ray asked if we were finished talking about the Homeless project for the club. It was decided that it was too big of a project for our small club and that we would help via donations to charities that help the homeless in the Cupertino area.
Golf Tournament – Lion Ray said the annual golf tournament has been officially canceled for this year. He has set up the next tournament for June 26, 2021 at Moffett Field. Lion Steve said that he is working on the mass email and that it can be scheduled to activate at a certain date so he will talk with Lon Jenni and Lion Carl to see what day they would like to send it out. Lion Steve will go in for surgery on July 30th and be out of commission for a few days.
Good of the Order –
Lion Leslye said she contacted Canine Companions and the August 14 companion dog graduation was cancelled to the public. You can view it on their YouTube website.
Lion Bill read off a number of Thank You letters we received from charities we donated to. Lion Bill said we also received a returned check from Fisher House charities saying it was undeliverable. Lion Leslye said she would pick up all the mail and get it to Lion Al for processing. Lion Ron said if Lion Al would write a new check the he would deliver it directly to the Fisher House manager at the Palo Alto Veterans Fisher House. Lion Ron said he would get the correct address for the Fisher House so we don’t have this problem in the future.
