Charity Golf – Lion Al said that Lion Kent has secured the reservation with the city, Lion Ray said Lion Sudha had agreed to take care of the BBQ side of it.
Camp Via Garden – Lion Ray said that a reporter from the Cupertino Courier will be checking out what we are doing at the camp, and things are going great at the camp. Lions John, Dagi, Joan and Ray (and possibly others) were up there recently doing work. We are giving food to West Valley Community Services and we will soon have a market where people can come and collect whatever produce they want. Lion Ron said that inside the bags of produce are small tags with information about the Lions and our charities. Lion Al reported that Lion Joan had requested some reimbursements relating to the camp, and that we have a few hundred dollars left in our budget for the camp. Lion Ray said he will try to get a work party up there as there is more work to be done.
Hunger at Home – Lion Claire reported that our next date is this Saturday, June 5, 8am-noon, and all are welcome.
Perpetual Fund – Lion Al is validating each of the symbols that were suggested by the Committee, and is moving forward with getting the account moved to the specific funds and bonds that were proposed.
Updates – Lion Ray mentioned that Lion Leslye has had some health issues recently, and she has a new doctor and is hoping that will help.
Good of the Pride –
Lion Ray is hoping that by Thanksgiving the Food Drive will be back in action.
The group as a whole mentioned meeting back in person, hopefully by the July meeting, since the state is opening up again on June 15. Lion Al will check with Lion Jeff on when we may be able to meet in person again.
Lion Claire asked about when we may be able to do the installation of the new officers, and there was discussion about where we might be able to hold it – Lion Claire suggested Camp Via may be a good place to hold it.
Thank you Lion Claire for the minutes from the P.M. meeting.
Golf Tournament/BBQ – Lion Kent talked about the possibility of having a BBQ open to the public at the Blackberry Farms picnic area on Saturday August 28th. Lion Kent said he thought we needed to make a decision by June 15 as that is when the City Council meets and Parks and Recreation accepts reservations for the picnic area. He said citizens could buy tickets.for the BBQ but we would need to reserve the Blackberry picnic area that can hold up to 250 people. Lion Kent said that if we wanted to have more than one seating the city would want us to reserve the picnic area adjacent to the large picnic area. There is a possibility that the city would provide a grant to the club for holding a city wide sponsored event. To accomplish something like this we would need support from all of our club members. Lion Kent said he thought that the Monta Vista Leo’s club would be available to help us out since it is in their backyard so to speak and school would be in session. Lion Kent said he would talk with Lion Sudha to get her thoughts.
Camp Via West – Lion Joan sent out a list of items that are required for the covering of the garden area. Lion Ray said he would pick up the supplies on the list except for the bird netting and double check with Lion Steve and Lion John to make sure he is getting the right materials. Lion Joan said she would get the bird netting.
Lion Joan said she has been in contact with a person from the Cupertino Courier and they will meet next week at the Camp to discuss the article. Lion Joan is hoping that it will be a full feature article about the camp and its purpose and our support over the years
And currently the Garden area and Train set. It is believed that the camp will open sometime in July for day camp for different organizations. Lion John said he was available to help out at the camp
when work parties are scheduled, Lion Joan said she would let him know.
Good of the Order –
Lion Ray said he would talk with Rick about the possibility of holding our installation of officers there.
Lion Ray said he would check with Holders to see if we might be able to hold our in person 9 A.M. meetings there starting on June 17th.
Lion Eli said his grand daughters graduation from High School went well and that she will be attending San Francisco State University ( Home of the Golden Gators). His grandson Eli graduated to Middle School.
Congratulations to both on their new journey in life.
