Tail Twister – Lion Tail Twister Herb collected happy dollars from Lion Joan for Cupertino’s Volunteer Day. Lion Mort gave happy dollars for their upcoming cruise. Lion Eli gave a happy dollar for Little Eli starting piano lessons. Lion Eli also rolled the dice for his Birthday and he rolled a 9 and gave the club $10.
Cupertino Volunteer Day – Lion Joan and Andrea talked with numerous individuals about volunteering and doing the club. Lion Joan said that several people were interested in volunteering on Ride 4 Diabetes Day. Lion Joan said we need someone to keep up with materials handouts associated with the club and LCI so we can get the most current information out to the citizens. Lion Joan said she had talked to a couple of people asking for our Lions club support from a group called “Services for Seniors”.
Golf Tournament – Lion Ray said he will fill out the volunteer sheet for the tournament and send it out to club members. Lion Ray said Lion Jenni would handle the food and beer at the tournament. Lion Ray said we still need golfers, sponsors and tee sign sponsors. Lion Ray said we have some rafflle/auction items but we need more, he hopes that club members will step up and take an item from the list he had sent out. Lion Steve said he would get golf balls from his finance guy. Lion Al said we need 75 golfers to break even.
Buchser Career Day – Had a last minute request for tables at Buchser Middle School. Lion Eli, Herb, Charlie and Ron delivered on May 7 and picked up on May 8th.
Student Speaker Contest – Helen Hu Cupertino De Anza Lions speaker from Lynbrook High School won the District level contest on April 20, 2019 at the American Legion Hall in Santa Clara. Helen wIll represent our club at the fourth round of the Student Speaker contest to be held on May 11th at the Tierra Linda Middle School, 750 Dartmouth Ave., San Carlos, Ca 94070 @ 2PM.
Camp Via West – Lion Bill said the Camp Via West work party received a call and asked if we could work on May 10th and 11th on the amphitheater and then on May 21st to prep the fire pit area for painting and the on May 25th paint the fire pit area.
District Convention – Lion’s Steve and Al will participate in the Lions District Convention, May 16 – 19th to be held in San Ramon. Voting will be on Saturday May 18th.
Good of the Order –
Lion Eli said the Hughes Elementary Flag Day will be on May 31st starting at 10:45 AM.
Lion Don Lang told the club that the Lucky’s street El Paseo is closing in two weeks. We will have to start looking for another store to do our Thanksgiving Food Drive at. Lion Joan said she heard that it was going to be torn down and new housing put up.
