A.M. meeting minutes for 4/29/2021

Lions Present at Zoom Video Conference: Lion’s Ray, Ron, Al, Steve, Joan, Dagi, Leslye, Eli, John, Don, Kent, Phil, Charlie, and Herb.

Charter Day – Lion Ray said that the Charter Day Picnic was a great success with the “Hootenanny Band” playing and the audience singing along. The weather was perfect along with a tour of the Green House and Garden by Lion’s Joan and Dagi. Then there was a tour of the train set by Lion Steve and Ellen. It was brought up that Lion Bill Reed started supporting the camp in 1976 and the Lion Al first helped out at the camp in 1979. It was brought up that we should try and get the Cupertino Courier to write an article on our involvement with the Camp. The Cupertino De Anza Lions was honored with the Community Partner of the Year for 2020-2021 by Matt Bell Director of Via Services. Lion Ray said he would try and contact someone at the Courier to see if they would be interested.
Golf Tournament – Lion Kent said he had talked with Lion Liang
a member of the Cupertino City Council about the possibility of using Blackberry Farms Golf course for our tournament and the Blackberry picnic area for our BBQ after the tournament. Lion Liang suggested that he talk with the Parks and Recreation Department. There are a number of questions that need to be answered. Lion Kent said that we need to present our plan to the City
in early may.

4-C6 Convention – Lion Al talked about the 4C-6 District Convention to be held Friday May 14th, 12:00 pm thru Sunday May 16th, 12:00 pm at the Holiday Inn – Silicon Valley, 1350 N. First Street, San Jose, CA.. Lion Al said we are allowed four delegates to go to the convention.

Good of the Order –

Lion John Smith and his wife Carmel will be moving back to the South Bay this coming week. Welcome back John and Carmel.

Lion Eli said he would talk with Lion Prez Jeff and see about setting up a Zoom meeting on May 3rd to discuss the golf tournament.

Lion Al and Lion Eli talked about a meeting on May 4th concerning the Endowment fund and investment ideas.

Lion Steve said that Lion Dagi will take Maria to get her Covid test on Monday and then Lion Steve and Ellen will take Maria to San Francisco for her surgery on Tuesday.
