A.M. Meeting Minutes for 4/22/2021

Lions Present at Zoom Video Conference: Lion’s Ray, Ron, Al, Steve, Joan, Dagi, Eli, Mort, Don, Kent, Phil, and Herb.

Charter Day – Lion Ray said that Lion Steve and Lion Al designed and printed the program for the day. Lion Steve said that we have 34 attendees signed up. Speakers are scheduled from 11:15AM to 12.Lion Joan said that she has a task for individuals to do and needs 3 electric drills and ¼” drill bits or smaller for the project. Lion Herb will bring the banner and flag for the ceremonies. Lion Kent said the Hootenanny Band is ready to go.

Golf Tournament – Lion Eli said the tournament was brought up at the board meeting and it was decided to have it in September while options were discussed at what type and where to have it. Lion Eli will send out a questionnaire for club members and past golfers to vote on what kind of tournament to have given the options available. Lion Kent said we should explore the option of Blackberry Farm Golf Course as it is owned by the city of Cupertino and maybe we could get a good deal, like free.

A.M. Meeting – Lion Ray will check with Holders to see if we can start holding our meetings there again.

Camp Via West – Lion Joan wanted to thank Lion Eli for renting the flatbed truck and setting up the compost delivery with the City of Cupertino. Lion Joan said we now have enough compost to last the rest of the year. Lion Joan said her and Lion Dagi harvested 45 bags of greens and vegetables and delivered them to West Valley Community Services. Lion Joan said they harvest the greens and vegetables Monday thru Wednesday. Lion Joan has talked with Lion Jean from Scales of Justice Lions Club and that she is working on getting volunteers from her club to help out in the garden.
Lion Joan said that spring planting is done and getting ready for summer planting.

Election of Club Officers – Lion Eli talked about the election of club officers and said we still need a volunteer for club secretary. Lion Eli said that Lion Al would volunteer to be a part time helper with the secretary. The Board asked Lion Ray to be a member at large and said it would be good to have an odd number of Board members for voting purposes.

4-C6 Convention – Lion Al talked about the 4C-6 District Convention to be held Friday May 14th, 12:00 pm thru Sunday May 16th, 12:00 pm at the Holiday Inn – Silicon Valley, 1350 N. First Street, San Jose, CA. Attached to the meeting minutes is the flyer for the convention. Lion Al said we allowed four delegates to go to the convention.

Good of the Order –

Lion Steve talked about the Crab Feed flyer that Lion Suda sent out. Lion Dagi mentioned that the URL for the Go Fund Me page was incorrect and that she talked to Lion Suda about correcting it.
Lion Eli said he had a check from Lion Mort’s brother Don for a $1,000 dollar donation for the Crab Feed fund.

Lion Don said there will be a memorial for Lion Linda Sanders on June 2nd. Details to follow.

Lion Eli said the Perpetual Fund Committee made a recommendation to change the name of the clubs Perpetual Fund to
“The Cupertino DeAnza Lions Endowment Fund”. The commit. tee is looking at investing fifty percent in conservative funds and fifty percent in aggressive funds. If club members have any recommendations or input please let the committee know (Lions
Vijay, Claire, Eli, and Al). The committee also recommended that the club continue to donate 10% of is charitable income into the endowment fund yearly.
