A.M. Meeting Minutes for 4/18/2019

Tail Twister – Lion Tail Twister Herb collected happy dollars from Lion Eli for his granddaughter being on the Santa Clara high school track team. Lion Mort gave a happy dollar for their house boat surviving the deluge of rain and is still floating.
Lion Al rolled the dice for his birthday and rolled an 8 and donated $7 to the club.
District Student Speaker Contest – Helen Hu the Cupertino De Anza Club student speaker will participate this Saturday April 20, 2019 at 11 AM. If she wins she will be win $4,500 towards her college scholarship.
4-C6 District Convention – Lion Al said we are eligible for four delegates to attend the convention in San Ramon. Lion Al needs the names of delegates by April 26, 2019 so he can get them registered. Lion Al said he would get a copy of the issues to vote on at the convention so he can share them with the delegates.
Earth Day Celebration – The club participated in the Cupertino City Earth Day celebration. Lions Charlie, Herb Dagi, Eli, Mort, and Andrea participated. Leo’s
Fro the new Cupertino Community Leo’s club were also in attendance. In our booth we had three tables one with the brag board, the second one had the planting materials for the children and the third table with club information. There were 77 booths at the Earth Day celebration.
Charity Golf Classic 2019 – The golf tournament is June 22, 2019 at Moffett Field Golf Course with a shotgun tee time of 10 AM. Lion Ray said we need golfers and Tee sign sponsors. We also need Lion members to step up and select one or two items from the list of raffle/auction donators provided by Lion Steve so we can get prizes for the tournament. Lion Ray said he will send it out to the club members. An incorrect address was on the original golf tournament flyer and several checks were returned to the senders. Lion Al corrected the address on the new flyer.
Board Meeting Review –
The Board discussed the upcoming 4-C6 convention on May 16-19, 2019.
The Ride4Diabetes date has been moved to September 8, 2019. The ride committee is trying togged the money backfire the permits from the cities that we will not use. The flyer for the Ride4Diabetes has ‘Cupertino De Anza Lions Ride” on their flyer.
Lion Claire is working on updating the clubs by-laws and to meet LCI requirement the name of our club is now “Cupertino De Anza Lions Club”.
Lion Al provided the clubs financial report to the Board and will send them out to the club members.
There was decision to make the after golf party on July 13,2019 also the installation and induction ceremony all together.
Good of the Order –
Lion Ray said there was a budget meeting coming up and if you have a charity you want to sponsor you need to let the Board know. Lion Al said he would send out the list of charities that we currently support.
Lion Phil and Lion Al talked about the year round homeless shelter in Sunnyvale and is going to ask the club members if we want to help support it
