A.M. Meeting Minutes for 12/13/2018

Lions Present: Lion’s Ray, Ron, Phil, Don, Steve, Bill, Al, Dagi, Herb, Joan, Kent, and Charlie.

Guest – New De Anza Lions Club member Mayor of Cupertino Steven Sharpe.

Visitors – None

Tail Twister – Lion Tail Twister Herb received a Happy Dollar fEli from Lion Steve for his and Ellen’s 52nd anniversary. Lion Kent gave a happy dollar for good things happening for Ride4Diabetes.

Christmas Party – Lion Ray talked about the Christmas/Holiday party and what a success it was with invited guests from members of the Cupertino City Council. Lion Ray said he handed out several membership applications. Lion Kent said he had three new membership applications and that Darcy Paul (former mayor of Cupertino) will probably join our club.

Crab Feed- Lion Al said ticket sales were going good and after January 16, 2019 the ticket price will go up to $60 so get your tickets now. Lion Steve said that we received passes from Harvey’s Lake Tahoe valued at $600. Currently we have about $1,700 in Raffle/Auction items. Lion Bill said he would get the liquor license. Lion Ray said he would get the insurance for the Refrigerator truck. Lion Steve said that the dishwasher will get fixed on December 26, 2018. Our club will be reimbursed for the cost of fixing the dishwasher by a reduction of $750 per year for the next four years of hall rental for the crab feed.

Charter Night – Lion Ray said he would contact the Blue Pheasant restaurant and set up a date for our 50th club anniversary. He asked everyone to think about a theme for the event. Lion Ray talked about trying to get original members of the club to join us.

Good of the Order – LionKent went to the Cupertino City Chamber mixers event and got our certificate for being a member. Lion Kent said he would send out an email of their events to club members so the could attend.

Lion Dagi said she talked with a lady, Marisol Durani, employed by the Santa Clara County office of Education. She is looking after migrant farm workers that could use some support like jackets and clothing. She would be happy to come to one of our meetings in the new year and give a presentation. Lion Ray said he would bring it up at the next Board meeting.

Lion Al said he would update the Golf Tournament flyer so we could start handing it out and get it on the District website.

Opportunity Drawing – Congratulations to Lion Phil who won. Congrats, it has been a long time coming.
