Lion Joan’s Award – I want to remind everyone that Lion Joan Chin will receive her Volunteer of the Year award from the City of Cupertino tonight Thursday October 14, 2021 at 5:30 P.M. in the City Hall plaza. We would like club members to attend the ceremony to support Lion Joan. Lion Joan wished that Lion Dagi could be in attendance as she is so deserving as well.

The garden was discussed with the mention that possibly moles were were invading the area and options of how to prevent them from destroying it. It was also brought up that some school children had played with the train set and Lion Steve had to modify it so they can’t get to it easily. Some of the school children have been doing minor chores that we have not been able to do at the camp. Camp Via West held their annual Fall Festival and everything went well.

Thanksgiving Food Drive – Discussions were held about the upcoming food drive and how we should handle the donations of both food and cash from individuals. Things we need to check on is if the QR code is still working and the printing of the shopping flyers for food items. Lion Claire will send out a sign up sheet for volunteers.

Crab Feed – A discussion was held concerning how to handle the upcoming crab feed and what guidelines to follow. The church event center said they would follow all CDC guidelines. It was also brought up that we need to start working on getting raffle prizes. We still have two years left on the discount for renting the venue.

Clothing Donations – Deliveries of twenty one 39 gallon bags full of clothes and personnel items were delivered. Right now we need to make two or three deliveries a month. Several different Lion members have delivered them to the Watsonville distribution point.

Good of the Order – It was brought to our attention that Lion Kent’s father passed away at the age of 97. Our condolences to his family for their loss.

Opportunity Drawing – Lion Charlie won, congrats Lion Charlie.
