Tail Twister – Happy Dollars were given in honor of Lion Ron’s son who has been nominated for a TV Emmy, for Jane a friend of Lion Dagi’s who is interested in joining our club, and for the Golden State Warriors. In honor of his birthday, Lion Don rolled the dice and made a contribution to our club. Happy Birthday Lion Don!
Jim Isaacson – Lion Jim Isaacson from Cupertino Host Club is looking for volunteers to help with setup for the Fish-A-Thon, 2 pm on April 29th at the Stevens Creek Quarry. Help is also needed assisting participants on April 30th, the day of the event. Cupertino Host Club is hosting a Wild Game Feed on June 16th at Napredak Hall in San Jose. Additionally he asked if we are interested in joining their club at the Cupertino Fall Festival on September 10th.
Chris Heiny & Thelma Batilo – Chris and Thelma visited from the Milpitas Executive Lions Club. Chris is president of the club and introduced Thelma who is running for 2nd Vice District Governor of 4-C6.
Regional Student Speaker Contest – Our Club winner, Shankara Srikantan will represent our Zone at the Regional contest this Monday, April 4th 6:30 pm. The contest will be held at the County of Santa Clara Registrar of Voters, Berger Auditorium, 1555 Berger Dr, San Jose. Everyone is invited to come.
Slate of Officers/Board – The Membership Director and Secretary positions have yet to be fulfilled. If you are interested in applying, please contact one of the board members.
Golf Tournament – Lion Steve reported they have $2110 in donations and another $2400 promised from Willow Street Pizza. Lion Eli has sent out sponsorship and entry forms to all club members. He recommended everyone either bring in golfers or sponsors. We currently have 3 bronze sponsors, 2 silver sponsors, and one gold. Lion Dagi has put our flier on the District 4-C6 web site.
Delegates District Convention – Volunteers are needed to participate in voting at the District 4-C6 Convention to be held at the Woodlake Red Lion in Sacramento. The Convention runs from May 12th to May 15th. Voting will be on Saturday, May 14th. For those voting, our club will pay the registration fee for the day of voting. The names of those voting must be turned in with the affidavit by April 18th.
Couriers for June 7th Election – The Registrar of Voters is looking for volunteers to be couriers for the upcoming Primary Election to be held on Tuesday June 7th, election night. Couriers will be responsible for transporting election ballots from the election centers to the Registrar of Voters. Couriers will be 2 per car. The driver will be paid $50 plus mileage and passenger will receive $50. All volunteers will need to attend a training class at the Registrar of Voters and will receive an additional $10 for their time. Silicon Valley Fall Festival/AJR – The Silicon Valley Fall Festival will be held 10 am – 5 pm on September 10th at Memorial Park in Cupertino. The AM club thought it would be a great idea to staff the AJ Robinson Health Screening Van. Lion Ray indicated input is needed from the PM club before making a final decision to go ahead. Lion Jim Isaacson said Cupertino Host Club would also participate and is willing to support the cost of using the AJR.
Good of the Order –
The Dayton Valley Lions Club is holding their 11th annual charity golf tournament on Saturday, June 11th. The $80 entry fee includes green fees, tee prizes, golf cart, breakfast and lunch.
