Lions Present: Ray, Walt, Phil, Steve, Bill, Don, Al, Dagi, Eli, Herb, Kent, John N, Ron, and Charlie.

Dates to Remember

–      Feb 23rd, 4:30 pm, Golf Tournament Planning Meeting, 1593 Bohannon Dr, Santa Clara

–      Mar 19th, Charter Night, Blue Pheasant, 22100 Stevens Creek Blvd, Cupertino

–      June 18th, De Anza Lions Golf Fundraiser, Moffett Field

Tail Twister Lion Herb went around the room collecting happy dollars. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood…happy for the weather, for unmentioned political reasons or just to be at the meeting.

Crab Feed

Lion Al said the percentage of net profit was over 50%, which is good. However he is not so happy that the total money taken in was down by half. He is working on John Smith’s performa and comparison with last year. He will share the results with us and Sunnyvale Sunrise soon.

It was recommended that we reserve a date with St William Church for next year, as a deposit is not necessary at this time. Lion Eli said he was willing to work with someone to go to St William and the San Jose Elks to negotiate a deal for next year.

Charter Night

Lion Ray said everyone needs to let him know whether they are coming to Charter Night. If you are coming please let him know what you would like to eat: beef, salmon, chicken, or vegan. The event will have an Irish theme. Lion Ray has asked Lion Phil, Lion Al and a few younger lions about their perspective on our club and how it has evolved over the years. Marge and Charlotte may need transportation. There will be Leos to help look after the children.

Golf Tournament

There will be a golf planning meeting at Lion Amy’s home, 1953 Bohannon Dr, Santa Clara on Tuesday February 23rd at 4:30 pm. If you want to get involved, please contact her. Lion Eli will send an email to Lion Vijay and Lion Mike Ringer to see if they will help negotiate with Moffett Field/Google. He said the forms need to be sent out soon so we can line up sponsors. Lion Eli also is proposing we do away with the banner and use the money saved to put an ad in the Cupertino Courier.

Board Meeting

Lion Al reported if we do away with our partnership with Sunrise Rotary we will need to set up our own mobile credit card plan. He has evaluated two: First Data and Pay Pal. Looks like Pay Pal can give us a better deal. People tend to spend more money if they can use a credit card.

Good of the Order

Bicycle Fundraiser: Lion Ken and Lion John N attended a meeting with American Diabetes Association this past Tuesday. They will investigate some ride routes on Friday. A circular route along Stevens Canyon Road is being considered. The route would go through Cupertino and could begin and end at Monta Vista High School. Because of corporate fundraising this could be a major fundraiser. It was suggested the first ride would likely draw 200-300 riders.

Maria: Maria will need to return to the Eye Center in San Francisco on Friday. Lion Dagi has volunteered to take her. Kudos to Lion Dagi for volunteering.

Fish-A-Thon: The Fish-A-Thon has been scheduled for April 30th. More information to follow

Bingo: It was pointed out that the Blind Center has a Board of Directors. Lion Ray will draft a letter to them expressing our concern over the demise of their Bingo fundraising program.

Project Linus: Lion John N reported that the next blanket-making event would be on April 7th.

SAY: The Social Advocates for Youth has sent us a thank you letter for our $250 donation. They provide short-term shelter, food, counseling, and referrals for youth and their families.

Opportunity Drawing

After some investigation it was discovered that Lion Kent was the winner. Congratulations Lion Kent!
