Tail Twister Acting tail twister, Lion Eli collected Happy Dollars in honor of recently departed Merle Haggard. Lion Al rolled the birthday dice and then made a donation to the club. Happy Birthday, Lion Al.

Slate Officers/Board – The slate of officers for 2016 – 2017 are as follows: President: Jeff Ludlum, 1st Vice President: Amy Brindos, 2nd Vice President: Charles Ice, Secretary: Jill Eliason, Treasurer: Vijay Caveripakkam, Treasurer’s Assistant: Mike Ringer, Membership Chair: Al Knox, Club Directors: Bill Reed, Carl Erickson and Ray Lancon. Thanks to all who have agreed to serve.

Golf Tournament – We currently have $2800 in donations but likely end up with ~ $6,000. There are pledges of 1 Gold, 4 Silver, and 4 Bronze. Still in need of golfers and Tee Sponsors. Lion Steve reported there would be a work party the Thursday prior to the Tournament. Ribs, beer, wine, and pop will be provided.

Regional Student Speaker Contest – The contest was held last Monday, April 4th at the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters office in San Jose. Lions Dagi, Ron, and Walt were in attendance. The contest was won by a junior class student from Lynbrook High School.

Although our club representative, Shankara Srikantan didn’t win, he did well. We have invited him to an upcoming PM club meeting. He couldn’t make the April meeting because of school testing but hopefully will come in May.

The next level, District contest, will be held on April 23rd, Saturday, 2 pm at the San Martin Lions Hall, 12415 Murphy Ave, San Martin.

Review PM Meeting – Project Linus is tonight, 6:30 pm until 9 pm in the Odd Fellows Hall. Please bring scissors and a friend.

The PM meeting started and ended on time, a first.

A total of 1,313 pair of eyeglasses were collected and transported to Vallejo. Thanks to all who have been participating in the program especially Lions Phil and Jill.

District 4-C6 Convention will be from May 11th to May 14th and will be held at the Woodlake Red Lion in Sacramento. We thank Lions Al, Ray, Phil, and Walt for agreeing to be voter delegates at the convention on May 14th.

Election Couriers – The Registrar of Voters is in need of volunteers for the upcoming Primary Election on June 7th. Couriers must have 2 people age 16+. Both driver and passenger will receive $50 plus the driver will be paid extra for mileage. All volunteers will need to attend training at the Registrar of Voters in San Jose and will be paid an additional $10. Silicon Valley Fall Festival/AJR – The Silicon Valley Fall Festival will be held 10 am – 5 pm on September 10th at Memorial Park in Cupertino. Lion Ray has reserved the AJ Robinson Van. Volunteers will be needed to staff it. Please contact Lion Ray if you are willing to help.

Good of the Order –

Camp Via: Lion Bill reported the camp is in need of minor repairs and the usual painting. A work party will be needed sometime between May 28 and June 2nd. Contact Lion Bill if you would like to help out.

Crab Feed: A meeting was held with Lester from the Sunnyvale Sunrise Rotary Club. He was told if they want to partner with us again next year that profits will be shared on a 70/30 split and or based on proforma. He said he would bring this information back to his club and discuss with them.

My New Red Shoes: Our club received a letter from My New Red Shoes thanking us for our $300 donation. In 2015, My New Red Shoes provided new athletic shoes and new clothing to more than 7,500 homeless and low-income children. They are based in Redwood City. Opportunity Drawing – Congratulations to our winner, Lion Don. Lion Don thanked the club for his share of the winnings and said it would come in handy for his upcoming cruise. Bon Voyage, Lion Don.
