A.M. meeting minutes for 9/16/2021
Lions Present at Zoom Video Conference and in person: Lion’s Ray, Ron, Leslye, Joan, Ann, Steve, Phil, Herb, Al, John (Z), Bill, Don, and Kent.

Tail Twister – Tail Twister Lion Herb collected bucks from all members.
ROV – Lion Ray asked Lion Al how things went. Lion Al said Lion Ray and Lion Herb worked overtime on the 14th and earned an extra $130 delivering supplies from the ROV supply truck. Lion Al said that the ROV truck got tagged and that the ROV truck was ticketed by the sheriffs department which cost $45. The Registrar of Voters will take care of it.
Camp Via West – Lion Joan wanted to thank those who helped water the garden and harvest the vegetables while she was gone. She said that the kids are back and she is spending 6 hours a day at the camp with 4 hours with the school kids at this time. The kids help her planting seeds and working in the garden under her supervision. Lion Joan said that Via West is thinking about hiring someone to help support her effort. Lion Joan said currently the harvest is going 50/50 to the camp and West Valley Community Services. Lion Joan said that the children with physical and/or developmental disabilities and special needs will be coming soon.
Food Drive – Lion Ray said he would ask Lion Claire to create a signup sheet for the food drive. Currently it is a go at the Lucky stores in Santa Clara for the Food Drive as long as nothing has changed per Covid. Lion Don said that the Odd Fellows Hall is available for us to stay later at the hall on Monday so we would not have to start at six in the morning. Lion Ray said he would call Lion Mike Martin to see if he was available to help us with the truck.
Good of the Order –
Lion Al wanted to remind everyone that Lion Claire was still collecting clothes for the farm workers and if anyone had any they wanted to donate they could either take them to Lion Claires home or give them to him and he would take them to her home.
Lion Kent said he talked with members of the Cupertino City council about our BBQ event and the issues that we were written up by the Santa Clara County food inspector. The council members said they would like to work with the county on correcting the issues. Lion Al said he would put the BBQ on the agenda for the next Board meeting. Lion Kent said that we should make a decision if we want to do the BBQ next year or not so we can start planning it if necessary.
Lion Ray talked about the Lions in Sight glass project having another project Saturday September 25th from 9 AM-2 PM at the Blind Center on Bascom Ave. in San Jose. You will be sorting and cleaning glasses. Lion Al said he would like to know the number of glasses that we donate to the project so he can assign a dollar value to our donation. Lion Ray mentioned that you would be provided lunch at the event.
Lion Ray mentioned Project Nuru that we support which provides learning opportunities to native individuals of Africa teaching them how to start and keep going farming techniques to support themselves. This project was brought to our attention by Lion Charles Ice.
