Charter Day 2021–Being at Via Services was great and being together was fun. It was an honor to have Matt Bell and Joan, the execs, were there. We received the Community Partner of the Year Award. The Hootenanny was a lot of fun-best ever! The Via campus is so great for gatherings that maybe we go up there again in the summer.
Via Campus Projects, The Gardens –Lion Joan and Lion Dagi have done so much at the garden and greenhouse. They may not be able to spend as much time up there in the future. Communicating with Via proactively so they know and there is a dialogue with the camp to keep it going.
Spirit of a Crab Feed 2021 – No updates, Lion Carl said that Go Fund Me netted a $1108.00
Charity Golf- BBQ Ideas, Proposals 2021, the proposal has transformed from possibly mini-golf, to a 9-hole, to back to Moffett, to Blackberry Farms with a BBQ. Lion Kent sent out a detailed proposal and a committee met on Monday the 3rd to discuss options. Lion Ray thinks that If the city approves and gives us the space for free, we should go for it with golf and BBQ. The city might give us a grant and then the city of Cupertino is invited. The question is where can we make the most money for the club? The optics for the city are great, but if we are trying to do our traditional golf and a BBQ event at the same time we don’t have the bandwidth as a club to run and work it. Many of our golfers are not able to golf at this time and for food, will tri-tip work with the population in Cupertino? If the grant comes through, what are the stipulations of the grant. If we are going to be serving the public, we need all the licenses, etc. Blackberry Farms is perfect as our club home city location. Doing both on the same day seems impossible. We used to hold this event ( a long time ago) at Blackberry with a meal, with about 75 people golfing and eating aft. Kent is currently the liaison between us and the city. We need to make a decision at the board meeting in May to meet the city of Cupertino’s discussions in June.
Ride 4 Diabetes 2022: Lion Sudha and her team mentioned that it would be okay to move the ride to the Spring of 2022.
Delegates for 2021 4c-6 Convention: Sat. 15 May. 1-3p Voting Session. Current delegates are Ray L. is definitely in, Jeff (possibly), and we need two to three more. The convention is local in San Jose and in person. The registration for the delegates is reimbursed by the club. Ray will work on trying to get a few more.
Lions, Leadership, and YOU – 2021-2022 Board of Directors and Officers, Lion Al has generously offered to do two roles, treasurer and secretary, with support on the secretary role. We need to find a way to get others to step up to leadership and board roles.
Good of the Pride:
Dagi took Maria for a Covid test and Steve is taking her for another surgery in SF.
Membership and participation is something we need to examine and figure out how to boost.
Meeting Adjourned at 7:17.
