The mission of Lions Clubs International is to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding.
Each club agrees to the constitution and basic principles of voluntary service. We pay modest dues to the parent body and to Lions International as well as some regional and district organizations. Apart from that each club is self-governing. All administrative costs come out of our own pockets – nothing raised for charity is spent on administration.
MEETINGS
We meet each Thursday at 9:00am at IHop 1012 Miller Avenue, San Jose, 95129. IHOP@Breakfast Restaurant Near You in San Jose, at Miller Ave
In 2006, we were joined by a group of young professionals with families. In order to accommodate their working schedule, they meet, often with great participation of their kids and of “morning meeting” fellow lions, on the first Wednesday evening of each month at 6:30pm at Tony & Alba’s Pizza restaurant at 3137 Stevens Creek Blvd in San Jose. The purpose of the meetings is to organize our fund-raising activities, funds distribution, community projects and social events.
We’d like to think of ours as a special club – having fellow lions who have been in the club for over 45 years, coming together with youngsters who bring their kids to the evening meetings and raising them in the spirit of Lionism. In fact, LION Magazine, the official publication of Lions Clubs International, ran a story about our club in 2014. Read it.
Joining the club is by invitation – but if you are interested, contact any of the club members listed here.
